Close to metro. Linen, rooms and bathrooms were clean, lots of space in rooms, lift available, breakfast great, computers available, wifi worked but generally not in rooms, staff helpful. I was the only girl in a 12 bed room. Although I had booked a mixed room, in a big, somewhat impersonal hostel, I don't think it is ever a good idea for one girl to be in a room of 10 or 11 guys and if it's going to be the case, staff should inform you at the time of check in.

A social, communal but not loud partying type hostel. Nice common area, terrace and kitchen, wifi usually worked well in rooms too, and there are desktop computers which is great. Staff are friendly, helpful and try to include everyone in things. Linen, rooms and kitchen were kept super clean, bathrooms were fine though not heaps of space to change in each shower cubicle. There were enough powerpoints and plenty of floor space even in the 14 bed dorm. Lockers were big too. Great place to stay!

Lovely hosts! Linen, room, bathroom and kitchen clean, wifi worked in room, bed comfortable. Hosts gave great advice about Valencia, lent us an umbrella and even offered a lift to the station. Apartment is a 15min walk to town but close to other shops, eateries etc. Felt very safe. Apartment has a nice balcony. Look up the address first as it can be a little confusing to find from the metro station.

Excellent location close to town, wifi worked even on second floor in room, linen, rooms and bathrooms clean, showers worked well, staff helpful, there is a lift inside and it is not noisy. If you want to meet people this is not the hostel as there is no common area and it is extremely quiet. Great value and would stay again.

Like a home. Linen, bathroom, kitchen all very clean and super well equipped. Wifi worked even in rooms. Close to bus and train and eateries. Host super friendly and helpful. A flight of stairs, but Kim very kindly helped with luggage. Beware if you google map the address, the hostel is very close to the bus station, not at the other end of the street. Excellent hostel would stay again!

The owners are the most friendly, warm, caring people. The bungalows are in a beautiful setting, wifi and bathroom facilities good. Kitchen very well equipped and the kinds of travellers the hostel seems to attract are laid back and friendly. Definitely worth repeat visits!

This is the second time I've stayed at this hostel. The location is great-close to well connected metro station, supermarket, restaurants & walkable to the city & Gare de L'est.Wifi good. This time however, the shower was one of those timed push button ones & the shower screen did not go the full length so water went all over the floor. The lock on the bathroom door was also broken. Breakfast was good. Availability of a lift was very appreciated! No bedside lamps. Stay for the location.

Great location close to bus and train stations and not far to old town. I booked an 8bed dorm with ensuite but was given a 6 bed dorm with no ensuite. There was no powerpoint at my bed. Lockers were big. Bathrooms fine, clean. Kitchen quite basic. Linen clean. Staff ok. The ladder to the top bunk was uncomfortable to climb up compared to others. Hostel is on first floor of building, no other stairs which was nice!

Great location close to bus station and not far to beach and old town. I booked a mixed dorm but received a private room as i would have been the only girl in the dorm- the staff were that thoughtful and didnt even accept any extra money for thr private room. Wifi worked well. Linen clean. Low srason so difficult to comment on atmosphere. Kitchen facilities avail. Would def stay here again.

Vera was really nice, friendly, and approachable. Good location near bus and train stations but many day trips actually leave from closer in town. Linen clean. Shower was joint with toilet and there was no showerscreen, but it was ok. Nice quiet location. An electric kettle would have been good to make tea/coffee as using a match and gas flame was a bit slow. Place was well heated. Laundry facilities would have been handy as there are no laundromats in Sofia. Wifi worked well.

Owners were lovely and keen to help with city information etc. Small homely hostel, felt very safe and the owners cared to ask how i was going, noting if they hadnt seen me since the previous morning.wifi fine.Bed lamps would have been good. Bathroom wasnt cleaned daily but it was ok. Breakfast was toast with cheese/jam and drink. With the directions from the train station, dont turn right down Dinicu Golescu, the directions are simply saying that the street runs along your right side.

Small, homely apartment. Lots of films on hard drive to watch,.breakfasts were good, close to small grocery shops, staff friendly and helpful. Linen clean, rooms big enough, lockers avail. Beware with directions from train station- the main entrance is not the only one with big arched windows, so double check its the one with tall columns too. Kitchen well equipped. Lounge room and dining table area to meet people.

Great location close to station, shops, food. Staff pretty good, linen clean, big lockers underneath beds. Ensuite toilet and shower were indeed tiny, the bathroom down the hallway was so much better. Room was well cleaned every day. Hostel was easy to find, had a lift, wi fi was ok. Lights above individual beds with powerpoint and a little privacy screen. Would stay here again.

Good location.linen clean tho you pay for it.they also charge to store your luggage.the least clean hostel i have stayed at, but it wasnt too bad.enough space in rooms. wi fi ok.i chose a mixed dorm however i was the only female amongst 4 males and i really feel that was inappropriate and potentially unsafe.there was also another girl in the same situation.staff didnt understand that i am happy with a mixed room but there should never be only one girl.this has never happened in other hostels.

Good location, clean sheets, bathroom facilities fine, breakfast nice, staff mostly friendly & helpful, wi fi fairly good, common areas to meet ppl, microwave/ fridge available for use. They allocate specific beds, to change bed it was a huge hassle when it should be simple as bed was clearly free and in same room. It wasnt the staffs fault but the computer system. Its a pain to show a piece of paper every time you enter the hostel for security.dont be put off by red light district, its safe.

Au Royal Hotel

Carcassonne, France

Great location not far from train station, basically in between station and medieval town. (If you dont have a car, there is no way you would want to get your luggage to a hotel in the medieval town as it is uphill). wi fi works only at reception not in rooms. Room and bathroom simple, a little old, but functional and clean. Hotel has stairs, no lift. Breakfast not really worth the extra €8. Staff helpful. would stay here again for its location which was perfect.

Would stay here again. Fairly good location as walking distance to city. Staff friendly, helpful. Food at restaurant good and very reasonable in price. Buffet breakfasts included a large range of hot and cold items. Room was simple but always well cleaned by staff. Hotel felt safe. I needed to flick the hot water switch on a couple of hours before using it. When checking out, the girl rounded up my bill from the 30cent to whole dollar on eftpos which i wasnt happy with. Overall a good hotel.
