Silver Gate Hostel

Split, Croatia

Greeted by friendly and helpful staff. The dorms were clean. There was a locker freely available to each guest. Great location for all the sights. Only downside would be that there seemed to be only one shower in the men's bathroom and one shower in the women's bathroom for all guests, although it was still very clean and the bathrooms are spacious. Have stayed here both times on my brief visits to Split and would stay again.

The Cozyness Downtown Hostel

Good location for various sights in the city, as well as a park and bars and restaurants (although I think their location is moving very soon). Helpful staff who directed our taxi driver to the hostel over the phone and showed us how to book a taxi for our early morning journey. The rooms and light and airy and the bathrooms are very cool.

Good location for the square and centre of town, only a 10 minute walk. The hostel organises good tours which are certainly worth doing. Nice, clean facilities.

Sibiu Travellers Hostel

We were the only people staying in the hostel the night we were there, so didn't get an impression of the atmosphere, but facilities were clean and it's a good location for the bus and train station (less than 5 mins walk), and 10-15 mins walk from the old town.

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. Feels like a home, very clean, and nice kitchen and bathrooms. The 10 bed dorm is so spacious. Also cool additions like an xbox, bath tubs in the garden, and Jagermeister bottles for the soap dispenser :) The staff were so helpful, as we asked them to help plan our onward journey and they did a very thorough plan while we settled into our room. I can't imagine there is a better hostel anywhere in Romania.

Haris Youth Hostel

Great terrace with a full view over the city. The directions didn't make it clear that the hostel is at the top of a steep hill which takes about 15 minutes from the tram stop, it is only the hostel 'office' that is right beside the stop. Still in the right part of town for seeing the sights though.

Hostel Miran

Miran is a really cool guy who does great tours. Even though he couldn't do the tour the day we went, he got his cousin to do it, who was an awesome and informative guide too. Great atmosphere in the hostel as well.

Honey Hostel Budapest

Budapest, Hungary

Definitely the most homely hostel I've stayed in. It's only a small place but the rooms feel very comfortable all the same. Bathroom and kitchen facilities are excellent. The landlord is very friendly and more than willing to help out with all things Budapest. There can be spells of noise in the early hours when people start spilling out of clubs and bars down the road, but that can't be helped. Fairly convenient location for the main sights. Make sure you get some of the honey before you go!
