Not an excellent hostel, but a decently priced option for Paris. The location is not central, so you will find yourself walking 10-15 minutes from the tram or metro stop. You'll get a cheap-ish stay in Paris, but nothing more. And there is an evil woman who works at breakfast!! The rest of the staff was delightful, though.

Bank Street Lodge, Fort William, Scotland

This hostel has everything you need and is a good choice if you're staying in Fort William. Fort William itself is a very quiet place, but Bank Street Lodge has a good bed and a kitchen for you. It's a good place to stop and a pretty cheap option if you're passing through.

Ok, so this place can be difficult to get to. That's the first thing to get out of the way. You can walk in 45 mins from Keswick or take the 78 bus, which runs regularly within limited hours. But it's not a problem if you're in the Lake District to do what you're likely there to do: Walk! For that, the hostel is well located. Take a look through the binder in every room that suggests walks if you're a beginner. Make sure to go up to Surprise View -- then Wadentath and Rosthwaite another day

YHA Grasmere Butharlyp Howe, Lake District, England

A treasure of a hostel in the small village of Grasmere. A bit difficult to get to and from via public transport, but as a result you really feel away from it all in this quiet hostel. I would definitely recommend buying your own food and using the self-catering kitchen. And take advantage of the location to visit Easedale Tarn and Loughrigg Fell/Caves! Nice staff and beautiful building.

Fun place to stay in a great location in Oxford. The staff is stellar, super friendly, which makes the vibe of this place very welcoming. The common area is small, but this means you have a good chance of meeting other travellers. A good choice if going to Oxford

Astor Hyde Park, London, England

I think this is the best budget option for London if you want a relaxed stay. A beautiful place in a beautiful neighbourhood, not a party hostel, but still there is the chance to meet people and go out from there. The location is not central, except it is close to some of London's best museums. I recommend this place and would go back. Free breakfast and kitchen are both important plusses.

Parkview Hostel, Hong Kong, Hong Kong

Second stay at Parkview, so I can tell you that it is consistently good. The atmosphere/character could be improved -- one of my roomates remarked that the common area (tiny, but it is HK after all) had the atmosphere of a public library. Otherwise, I think the place is just about perfect. They could also improve tour service, but HK's pretty easy to get around. Awesome staff, Parkview is a must-go-to if you can get a bed!

The most important thing you need to know about King's Joy is that it IS NOT A HOSTEL, really. It is a hotel with some rooms as dormitory beds. It has no common room and no atmosphere, but it is clean and in a good location. I would recommend it to group travelers. As a single person, it will be difficult to meet others, but not impossible. The 25 RMB breakfast buffet is quite a good deal for good quality. I give KJ a lowish rating on this site because it lacks what a good HOSTEL should have

The best hostel I've been to in all of CHINA. You will pay extra, but in return you get free breakfast (food and drink), excellent staff, super clean facilities, and a great atmosphere. I walked in here and everyone was chatting (among travelers and with staff -- Tim rocks!) and having a great time. Pretty place, timely laundry service, a good tour to Mutianyu... well, I wish I had stayed longer. I don't always give positive reviews, but this place is GREAT!!

The staff was not very helpful toward English speakers, but be persistent and you will get what you need. The location is the main reason to stay at Mingtown, since PingJiang road is gorgeous, especially at night. The atmosphere is lacking here mainly because their cafe is one building away from the hostel. You might find it difficult to meet people other than your roomates.

Decent place in Shanghai. The biggest draw is the great location (10 mins to Nanjing Road, Shanghai Museusm, People's Park, Art Museum, I could go on...) Bar has an average atmosphere, cleanliness is average. The place is cute, but I think that with a small amount of effort this place could be great. Good food is hard to find nearby, if you have any tips, please leave them in your review :)

Great atmosphere at Lazybones. The common area was usually full of people, nice music, nice vibe. The staff can help you get to nearby attractions like the Leshan Giant Buddha and Jiuzhaigou. The restaurant food is good, but a little pricey, so I recommend getting bao-zi or noodles just down the street. Location is great, just across the street from a metro stop and near to many attractions. Will stay here next time I am in Chengdu.

Great staff and great location. I used Hostelworld to choose where to stay in Hong Kong and am glad that I found Parkview. I recommend the nearby restaurant The Match Box. Parkview is tucked away in a quieter area, but with the metro station nearby it's super easy to get wherever you want to go.
