Abercorn House Hostel

Very clean and professional. More like a hotel with dorm rooms so you get better cleanliness than a normal hostel. Hammer smith is a great safe area. Only downer is paying for wifi. Also is you are looking to meet lots of people and to socialise this isn't the place for you, mainly due to its hotel feel.

Small rooms (Paris for you, I guess). Wifi slow. location ok but quite far from the main attractions but lots of food and entertainment in the area. It is the red light area but as with most big commercial red light areas in Europe it isn't dodgy at all.

Dear Kirsten thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. Our location, at the very heart of Montmartre is something we pride on. That is probably one of the reasons the buildings are so small ( some date from the 18th century!). We are glad you felt safe and we hope to see you again some time.

Crazy showers where you have to either push a button the whole time or pull a chain the whole time. Most bizarre set-up I have seen in a year of travel. Wifi slow, location quite far from the train station.

Tongue in check sense of humour made a good change from the norm. Be aware this is a BIG hostel and as such has massive tour groups coming through and going everywhere. Major downer was the price, really. Amsterdam on the weekend = crazy prices.

Flying Pig Uptown

Amsterdam, Netherlands

This is definitely a party hostel. smoking room and bar and, as such, no real common area to chillout in after a tiring day. TINY toilets and bizarrely no sinks to brush your teeth or shave. Instead you have to use the miniature ones in the toilets. Location is about as far from the main area as you'd want to get. The other flying pig is probably worth booking instead, simply based on its better location.

No frills but has a very nice, large common area next to the kitchen. The area is great, close enough to be a ten minute walk to anything of interest but just far enough out of the way not to be stuck in a tourist trap area.

PLUS Camping Jolly

Venice, Italy

Obviously the location isn't great but it's either bite the bullet and pay the horrendous Venice prices and stay here and deal within. The public bus was super easy and cheap to use. The pool is excellent and due to high backpacker numbers the atmosphere is there for the taking. Only other downside was no kitchen which is really bizarre for a camp ground, at least in my country.

This place was great, one of the best hostels we have stayed in. Clean, friendly and great kitchen facilities. Also whilst not being in the old city centre (only a 15min walk away) it is probably (at least for younger people) is in a much cooler area Neustadt which has many bars, shops cafes etc etc and has much more life and is far less touristy than the centre.

A great, clean and safe area. An easy ride on the tube into the city centre. The only major gripe is the lack of a kitchen and common room. Tough there is the bar downstairs if you are looking for somewhere quiet to go and hang out it doesn't really provide that.

Oxford Backpackers Hostel

The smallest dorm rooms we've had in all of Asia and Europe. Where there are 6 bunks in any other hostel we have been to would have 4. Also seems to be a lot of people living there coming and going at all hours of the night, with no regard to travellers asleep etc. The common room is also quite small,, considering the ammount of people at the hostel.

Great place and super price. Location is excellent, only a 2 minute walk to the centre of the action! Staff were great also. Only gripe was the showers. It's cool that they want to save water and everything by using timed push buttons, but seriously they last for about 10 seconds! Annoying as all hell, having to push the button so many times to have a decent shower.
