Island Time Hostel

San Juan, Puerto Rico

This hostel is in a great location, a 15min walk to the beach and a short bus ride to Old San Juan. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly which really made us feel welcome. We stayed in a private room which was a decent size and clean, although the bathrooms aren't big. There were plenty of fans to keep the room cool too. Would definitely stay here again if we come back!

Whilst this hostel isn't bad it just doesn't compare to most we have stayed in. The room was big but there were only 4 lockers for 6 beds, and it wasn't the cleanest. The beds are 3 bed bunks so you don't get much head room! It's perfect location for the ferry (only a few mins was away) but there's not much else near by - we were glad we had a car to get to shops/restaurants. They sell beer, soft drinks and water but breakfast was just pancake mix and syrup with some coffee if you're lucky.

This is a great hostel. Good size rooms with aircon at night, huge lockers, and decent bathrooms. Every locker had its own charging point inside which is a genius idea! The breakfast was good - cereal, fruit, toast. tea and coffee. Its a few mins walk to the bus station too which is very handy for buses to the airport or other locations near by (eg playa del Carmen). Would come back and stay here again!

Decent room and ensure. Breakfast was good. Our room wasn't too bad but its located on a major road so the balcony is quite noisy. Some rooms would be noisy too. Location is close to a supermarket, the bus station, and restaurants/bars.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Decent room and the bathrooms/showers were ok. The lady that runs it is very helpful. Breakfast was great! Be careful buying bus tickets through them though - we ended up paying first class prices for second class tickets. The bus was overnight so I ended up paying again to get first class tickets at the bus station as all online information only listed two safe companies and our original tickets weren't with them!

The family here made our stay amazing. They gave us information at the area for some local food, had free distilled water we cold refill our littles with, and offer free transfers to the bus station which is about 3kms away. Our bus was at 0430 in the morning but they still gave us a lift. If you're staying overnight to catch another bus then this is the place to stay!

An 11 bed dorm that really doesn't feel like it! Huge room with each bed getting lots of space. Decent lockers and bathrooms. Good atmosphere and quite a relaxing place!

Decent hostel with basic facilities in the room although the lockers are external to the dorm. Location is perfect for this small town and it had a great atmosphere! Enjoyed our stay!

Nice hostel located about a 15-20min walk to the centre of town. The staff were helpful, although failed to tell us that the bus station I asked for walking directions to (and it appears most other bus stations as well) was in a dangerous area! Also there was a party arranged for one of the nights that we didn't feel invited too and was more local residents than guests - in the private room the windows were to the small garden so our room had smoke coming in and was incredibly noisy!

Nice hotel with good pool and location. Breakfast was OK. Tour desk/company at the front of the hotel was great - thoroughly recommend doing the 4 day Uyuni salt flat tour with them!

Excellent hostel that's close to a major bus terminal and a 20min walk from town. The beds are big, with big lockers allocated to each bed. Only downside is its a bit noisey with road traffic and from the bar. A big downside for us is that they let people smoke inside! On the upside it has an all you can eat pancake breakfast and the food is good and reasonably priced! Would recommend it and we're staying here again when we return in a week.

Awesome hostel. Very expensive over Carnival but we really enjoyed ourselves. The facilities are lacking - one washing machine in the very small kitchen. We stayed in a brand new room but there was only one bathroom (one person at a time) for about 24people! The breakfast is excellent, and its a 5min walk to the beach. Very clean considering it was full over Carnival and the staff were very helpful!
