Good hostel, nice kitchen, good location, friendly staff. No power outlets in the rooms, beds are small and you can feel a little boxed in (corner bed with lockers at the foot of the bed and next to my head), not enough showers.
Central location, well priced, great staff, clean, peaceful.......an excellent hostel.
Good location, clean, decent facilities. Well priced.
A nice, clean, quiet hostel. Good location.
Single bathroom (1 shower, 1 toilet, 2 sinks) to be shared between 12 people No power outlets in the room Train tracks right outside dorm window
Friendly staff. Good location.
Good location. Well priced. Helpful staff. Good facilities with the exception of the bathrooms. Showers have no temperature controls and shut off every 20 seconds. Not enough showers for a hostel this size.
Pros: Location Cons: Absent staff Rude staff Additional charges added on arrival Bare rooms - only a bed and a small table, nowhere to hang clothes/towels Dirty rooms Large gap at the bottom of the doors to rooms (noisy, little privacy) Only stay here if you're desperate.
Great hostel. Excellent facilities. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean. Central location. Delicious breakfasts (not just toast and cereal!). Well priced. The dorms are clean, quiet and peaceful. Perfect for relaxing after a long day. If only every hostel were so well run!
Great location (central but away from main streets). Professional staff. Clean. Well priced.
Basic rooms but cheap and in a good location. Nice kitchen and balcony.
Located in a quiet alley in the heart of the backpacker district. Clean, spacious rooms. Delicious breakfasts (something different every day). Staff were friendly and welcoming. Mrs Long was extremely helpful throughout my stay.
I've been travelling and staying in hostels for the last 9 months. The owners of FWD have been the most helpful and hospitable people that I've stayed with so far. This isn't a party hostel, just a nice relaxing place to stay within walking distance of many of Chiang Mai's top attractions. Highly recommended.
Disgusting. The carpets were filthy, the bedding was rarely changed and always smelt sweaty. I washed my own sheets but still couldn't get them clean. The kitchen is tiny. It would be too small for a hostel 1/4 the size of this one. The "cleaners" would leave rooms unlocked and open and then disappear. There are much nicer places to stay in Melbourne (try Urban Central).
Pros: Short walk from Kings Cross Station but away from the busy main streets Free hi-speed wifi (d/l 10mbps+ when I checked in) Communal area with TV and DVDs Separate dining area Very friendly people staying there, a few long termers Decent kitchen (some free food -basics- available) Cons: Bathroom on my floor was broken. Only two showers for all the men staying there. Room was very dirty and untidy due to long term roomate Short staffed
Pros: Cheap Clean Friendly 30 seconds from the beach Regular shuttles into town Hostel has a "quiet" rule after 11pm Cons: Outside town centre (15-20 minute walk or 10 minute shuttle) No free wifi or global gossip (they use their own wifi provider) Ktchen is too small given the number of dorms Kitchen closes at 10pm TV/Common room closes at 11pm No communal areas after 11pm means that your dorm room can become noisy and crowded late into the night whether you like it or not. There wa
Decent size rooms, clean, good location, fun bar next door.
A nice quiet hostel. A good place to relax but not great for meeting people.
Busy central hostel with helpful but stressed out staff. Bathrooms weren't as clean as I would've hoped. This hostel tends to attract party goers so I suppose that's to be expected. Lots of PCs available for use with webcams and headsets but no free internet/wifi.
Close enough to the town centre and beach that you can walk to most places but far enough away from the busy main street that you can have some peace and quiet. Free wifi in the lobby plus free access to two PCs and free printing is handy. Air conditioned private rooms with safe and mini-fride. All in all pretty good but a bit on thr expensive side by Bali standarda. No hot water while I was there (5 days) due to solar powered water heater.
