we had a great time there. The day after Australia day the staff closed the bar very early when there were alot of people there. I think they couldn't be bothered any more and the attitude was way off for a hostel. the dorms were nice, good beds with en suites. one bathroom per room and only communal ones through the bar on the bottom floor.

the bar it the only lounge and therefore it isn't much of a bar. lots of people sitting on computers, sleeping, waiting and lots of under-age people (depending when you go)

Drop-bear was great fun. The rooms were big, the Pool is not in the sun all day and it was large. swimming was always on the cards. nice outdoor area to hang out and a great bar. the movie room was well setup and good movies The staff helped with everything and were very friendly. One night was the start of the NFL season and many people wanted to watch it, so a projector was bought out and it was streamed over the pool. Great work guys

the house was nice although very busy. the double rooms were nice however the dorm was small and poorly equipped with the toilet and shower at the opposite end of the house. breakfast was great. The location was good if you want it quiet however we also stayed in the zona Rosa and prefered it, even when we didnt want to party

we were upgraded for free, but they tried to charge us more at the end (just to see if we were listening, 320 oh, sorry, yes 200, oh 10% hostelworld 180, yes you were right initially) sink exploded and they responded quickly and we changed rooms, left two items in there due to the quick escape and one made it to lost property and the other went missing from ontop of lost property. not sure why they couldnt just bring them to our room. nice atmosphere, no bar and breakfast is nice but slow

normally i give high reviews we arrived and they did not know about our reservation, then they 'found' it. we put out bags in storage and when we went to get them they opened the doors without removing the padlock, turns out everyone knows. we were able to check into the private room, a loft in the dorm at 5pm after they kicked the sleeping girl out. broken window in our room and little to no cleanign standard until we said something. still parts not clean. no more HI

The owner is lovely and happy to help you. They are adding rooms and it will be completed soon. The price is low and the rooms are great with cable. As a couple its worth the money to go double (some on booking.com as well if there are none left). Breakfast needs to be improved to compete with other hostels. It is good, juice box, crackers, a mufin or packet of cookies, coffee leche, sugar and tea bags in a lunchbox that is left for you. We enjoyed our stay but this place is only getting bette

El Galope Horse Farm

Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay

Excellent all round. Miguel and Monica were wonderful hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. With only 10 guests the atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and sociable. The meals were very tasty and we particularly enjoyed the assado on our last night. The horseriding was very fun and unlike some other rides we've been on, Miguel actually gives you a short lesson before heading out and if you've ridden before you have a chance to go for a gallop! Highly reccommend this place!

The view was incredible and the breakfast was delicious. The communal area was large with lots of sofas - super comfortable! The kitchen was very well stocked and easy to cook your own food. The staff were great and very helpful and friendly. They let us invite our friends from another hostel up to drink some beer and watch the sunset and they let us use the kitchen to cook lunch even after we'd checked out. Also very close to town, bars, restaurant and supermarket.

Hospedaje Mi Rincon

El Chalten, Argentina

We really enjoyed this place - only two rooms and set apart from the main house. The room was very comfortable with a heater , hot shower and a kettle to make tea and coffee. There was no kitchen available but this wasn't a problem because we were out hiking all day and too tired to cook anyway! Breakfast is simple - tea/coffee and cake but its great because its dropped off the night before outside your room so you can eat it early if you are going hiking or better still, take it with you!

Lovely hostel with a very relaxed atmosphere. Nice communal area with a sofa where you can sit and drink tea and look at the wonderful view of the lake. The hostel put on a great asado which was perfect for meeting other travellers. The hostel also provided lots of information about tours and trips in the area. The 4 bed dorm was comforatble and warm.

We booked a 6 bed dorm but we were moved into a 3 bed for no extra price, we were happy. Lacks a little with organisation and there is not a getting to know people area or rather people don't come out as much. The walls are thin so can be noisy but depends on other backpackers. Rooms hadvery comfortable beds and were warm. You can also hire all your gear here for trekking.

Santa Mix Hostel

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

This hostel has looked at what backpackers want and ticked the boxes. Nice new big beds, bunks not attached so you don't wake up when someone else rolls over. Large rooms, aircon for the night time, lockers. The staff were fun and helpful and they attract a great type of traveler. It is a great area and close to the city for the other side of Rio. I would highly recommend this hostel for time away from the craziness around the beaches. (We stayed a few days here and a few at copacobana)

Walk On The Beach Hostel

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The friendly staff, security and location were the best thing about this hostel. We stayed in a 6 bed dorm which consisted of 2 triple bunkbeds. The room was too small - it was hard to fit 6 backpacks on the floor. The whole hostel was also ridiculously hot! No aircon in the communal areas. Our friend moved into a dorm with aircon and paid the same as us which seemed a bit unfair. Also the wifi didnt work the whole time we were there as it only let a limited amount of people on at a time.

Thanks for your review. Allow us to break it down to you: you booked a six bed dorm with fans, you stayed in a six bed dorm with fans. It's that simple. About it being "ridiculously hot", I refer you to weather.com or any other forecast website: Rio is hot in the summer! "Ridiculously hot", some might say, although that relies on personal opinions. Plus we never advertised a/c in communal areas, so basically you got what you paid for. About the wi-fi, we are sorry for the problems you referred to, it has already been taken care of.

Hostel Galeria 13

Salvador, Brazil

Great location and our double room was very comfortable and spacious. The free caipirinha hour was awesome and brought people together socialising. Breakfast was large and plentiful. Our only negative was that sometimes the staff could be quite short. We accidentally left the hostel one day with our key in our pocket and when we returned we got chided by two members of staff about it.

We stayed here for Carnaval and couldn´t have picked a better spot! Located right at the start of the Barra circuit, we didn't need to get a taxi anywhere. The staff were so friendly and extremely helpful. We stayed in a private room and it was more like a hotel than a hostel - very swish! Some of our friends stayed in the dorms and they also looked spacious and airy. Highly recommend.
