Fantastic little place, albeit a little hard to find, but forgiven being in such a great location and with such wonderful staff. I felt right at home from the moment I arrived till the moment I departed; a welcoming, accommodating, and pleasant environment to be in.

Quite hard to find hostel in a hipster courtyard get-up, surrounded by shops that make no sense such as a cafe only selling breakfast at dinner time and whatnot. Hostel itself was pretty decent, clean, and with helpful staff who forgive friends who make mistakes. Great location within the city, lots of places to eat / drink / consume close by. Only downside is lack of travellers / backpackers staying there, I was the only 1! However, all the local Russians staying were chill.

Great little hostel in a rather surreal upmarket neighbourhood that really highlights the incredible wealth gap in Cambodia. Very clean environment and great rooftop chill area. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, helping organise tuk tuks for Killing Fields / S-21 tours and airport transfers. Also, fantastic little noodle bar opposite the hostel well worth a visit.

Easily one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. Refreshing to see a foreign owned business actually making a positive difference for workers in the local community. Both managers (Gus and Driess) were great guys with honest experienced traveller personalities that know how a hostel should be run and maintain the highest of standards. Bravo.

Nice little place to stay in LP, close to everything. Receptionist on arrival made me laugh with such a loud voice for a small woman. Aircon did not work in our dorm but was moved us into staff room whilst they fixed problem by next day. Swimming pool is questionable but fits well with visions of a Communist society. Enjoyed the chill out area with hammocks.

Hostel is very modern, clean, and good travel desk but lacks character and does not stand out from the memory of any other hostel. Good location opposite great night food market by the North gate. However, overpriced considering hostel dorms being on par with the price of a private room in an average hotel anywhere else in town but I guess people will pay for opportunity to socialise with other backpackers, and hostel owners know this all too well.

Four Rivers Hostel, Yangon, Myanmar

6th Jul 2015

With very few options for backpackers, Four Rivers is a great starting point when entering Myanmar through Yangon. Good location, friendly staff, all the information you need to plan your onwards trip around the country. Advice for any travellers coming to Myanmar: do not bring any USD, they are not needed and this is an outdated concept. ATMs are close by Four Rivers and everywhere accepts and prefers local currency.

Good hostel, clean, river view, and nice location away from the party hostels. Staff were mostly helpful except when the night receptionist had disappeared somewhere leaving us stranded outside for half an hour ringing the doorbell and telephone to try and get in but these things happen. Hostel did help with airport transfer though so redeemed themselves. Would stay again.

Generally a good hostel though didn't really have any unique offering to stand out from your average place. Liked: The staff were very helpful. Disliked: putting your own bed sheets on and take off (made me question what service they are even providing when most of hostels manage this whether by paid staff or working for accommodation guests... not to mention someone folds the duvet and pillow anyway so putting sheets on would not be too big a leap). Also paying for high tech lockers... why?

Nice little place, much more of a cosy and homely feeling than the several other hostels I've stayed at in Prague. The meal prepared by the hostel was delicious. Loved the free fruit tea. Breakfast was good. My only slight grievance was the dance music being played in reception / lounge area by staff at 1am when everyone else was either out or, like myself and a few other in the nearby dorm, in bed trying to sleep. Great all round though and would stay again.

Overall pretty average hostel with nothing that stands out. Probably the loudest hostel every stayed in as well, the doors (designed by a complete idiot) make such a loud slam that everyone wakes up every time they are used. Also scaffolding outside the window at 6am is not a very good idea especially without warning people staying there first. Other than these, the staff were very helpful though a bit confusing as to why children are working at reception when people are smoking near by....

What an absolute joke. Arrived to find reception closed mid afternoon with a phone number to contact. Not all travellers have a phone so waited 30 minutes till a cleaner told us to go to the cafe downstairs, she spoke to somebody who told us to wait 5 minutes back upstairs, we waited 15 more and left. whilst waiting 6 other people (3 couples) walked in and also left not having a phone either. The place doesn't want guests. Stay away. Walked down street and found cheaper hostel

Good location. Booked a 4 bed room, apparently 2 other people already in there but when got to room it was empty except for loads of trash including booking confirmation that proved the room hadn't been cleaned in at least 10 days. Luggage storage was not secure. Hot water was broken for tea and coffee. Staff were helpful. Good common room set-up though and everywhere else seemed clean enough. Overall pretty decent despite negatives.

Good views and nice scenery from location. Free Bus pass and wireless is excellent. However, upon arriving, receptionist kept us waiting 5 minutes whilst she tried to disguise the fact she was ordering food over the phone and that was more important to her. Very Poor. Also woken up at 2am to the sound of staff cleaning outside rooms (think was in the kitchen) and vacuuming at 6am in hallways. Good Facilities (lockers, cafe etc).Overall Good, could be improved.
