PRO: The location is great. Very close to JR and Metro stations. The price for the capsule is decent. CON: No shower, only public bath for men. No separate room for smoking. The whole section hosting the capsules smell like cigarette. Key for the safe box has to be left at the reception when going out.

Time Peace Apartment

Sapporo, Japan

PRO: Very helpful staff. One of the staff helped me get to the most delicious local restaurants in the area and helped me plan a trip to Biei. The hostel is clean and well tended. There is a bar where guests could hang out. Very cool place. Not too far from a subway station. In a walking distance from Hokkaido station. CON: N/A

Aso Base Backpackers

By far, the best hostel I have seen in my life. The place is very new and well equipped. I love the living room and the kitchen. The location is super convenient. The staff is helpful.

SPA Hostel Khaosan Beppu

Beppu Spa City Oita, Japan

PRO: Cheap. Has an onsen in the hostel. Nice kitchen. Helpful staff. CON: The place is a long walk from JR Beppu station. There is no convenient store nearby. The place is old and the room is quite smelly. Perhaps the smell of old bamboo mat.

Khaosan Fukuoka Annex

Fukuoka City, Japan

The best capsule hotel I found during my three months in Japan. The capsule is large and clean. There is furniture in the room like writing table. The restroom and shower are sparklingly clean. Convenient location. Pretty close to the JR Fukuoka station. There is a bar on the first floor for hanging out.

A great hostel in a convenient location. Living room and kitchen are large and well furnished. The room is clean and spacious.

PRO: The cheapest hostel I found in Japan. 1500 Yen for a single room. Sleeping on a tatami mat is a good experience. The place is quite close to the JR station on Osaka Loop. There are many interesting places to see nearby. CON: The neighborhood is quite sketchy. I would not go out late after night. The room is very smelly; perhaps the smell of old tatami mat.

A great hostel in Kyoto. Very convenient location near subway station, bus stops, department stores and Higashiyama Mountain. The place is clean and well tended. The staff is very helpful giving good advices for food and travel destination.

JGH Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan

I stayed here for two weeks. The hostel is a little cramped but I had a lot of fun. There are many interesting people living here. Some stay for months. I enjoy talking with other guests and get many good advices from them. The place is small and some parts are not so clean, but it is fine if you don't expect things to be like in the West. There is a coin laundromat nearby and a 250 yen bento. Conveniently close to JR station. The staff is very helpful. Kudo to Ayumi-san.

Anne hostel is very clean and well organized. The Japanese style living room is cool. Not quite as cramped as other Japanese hostel. The staff is super helpful.

@Hua Lamphong

Bangkok, Thailand

A great hostel in in the middle of Bangkok. Easy to get there by subway. The place is clean and spacious. The staff is helpful. The location is conveniently close to the main train station and Bangkok's China Town (good place to eat delicious foods). Nothing to complain.

Green Grass Hostel

Sao Paulo, Brazil

A hostel in a convenient location. Only a few minute walk from a metro station. The place is really small. There was often a shortage for showers and rest rooms, especially when one of them was broken or being cleaned. There is not much space for hanging out with other people. The dining room is super small, so is the TV room. It could get pretty hot with no AC. Mosquitoes are bitches too. Nonetheless, staff is very helpful. One went to the bank with me for an hour so I could withdraw money.

Kathmandu, Nepal

A great hostel just a little outside of Tamel. It is in a quiet neighborhood. The staff is very helpful. There are big living room and bar for hanging out with other guests. Free tea in the morning. Delicious dalbat is served in the evening. The place is quite cold in the winter but thick blankets are offered, and a small bonfire is made in the night.

New Solitary Lodge

Pokhara, Nepal

A great place to stay in Pokhara. It is not in the city center but one could walk from the hostel to the center in ten minutes. The hostel is clean and well tended. There is a beautiful garden which is great for reading and drinking tea in the afternoon. You could get a cheap and delicious breakfast in the morning. The view from the top of the hostel in astonishing. Good value!

Kathmandu, Nepal

A great hostel.

Alobar1000 is an amazing hostel. It is just outside the ever busy Thamel so it is quiet at night but still very close to all important locations in Kathmandu. The hostel staff is friendly and helpful. The internet is fast. The rooms get quite cold in the winter nights but very thick blankets are provided free of charge. Water is streaming hot and not lukewarm. It is like a home but with so many cool travelers.
