Alfama Patio Hostel

Lisbon, Portugal

Great place to stay, right in the heart of the prettiest district of Lisbon. The BBQ and sangria night was awesome. Each bed has its own locker, nice showers, excellent pancake breakfast....

Residenza Laterano

Rome, Italy

Great location (just a block or two from the metro San Giovanni and a 10 min walk to the Colosseum). Make sure you have a phone to call him when you arrive for him to check you in (because there isn't usually staff at the hostel). This isn't a hostel where you would really meet people because there isn't a common area or anything, but it is great if you are just looking for an affordable room to stay at. Really nice staff who gave us the run down on where to eat, places to visit, etc.

Youth Hostel Rothenburg o.d.T.

Rothenburg, Germany

Just a couple minutes walk from the main downtown area. Great hostel, although there were a bit too many children running around.

Banana's Adventure

Huacachina, Peru

Great pool, great bar, hammocks, great staff, awesome cabin style rooms (although you share bathrooms)... definitely one of my favorite hostels!

Hostal Sol de Oro

Arequipa, Peru

Very helpful staff, great atmosphere (ping pong, fusball, computers w internet), and only 3 blocks from the main plaza

Excellent location, helpful staff, very quiet (so if youre looking to meet people/party, shouldnt be your first choice)

Hostal Pakarina

Aguas Calientes, Peru

Very hidden, no hot water, staff was not welcoming/helpful AT ALL

Pariwana Hostel Cusco

Cusco, Peru

Best hostel I stayed in while in Peru. Really nice staff, only a 2 blocks from Plaza de Armas, they give you a great walking route to see downtown cuzco, hot water (i was surprised how many hostels didnt have hot showers!), great atmosphere, and cheap breakfast (food is definitely not cheap in cuzco, unless you want chifa!)
