This hostel is a fair walk from the city, which is why it is cheaper than most but we were aware of that when booking and the bus services are good. We were in a spacious private double that had a fan but the only toilets on our floor were unisex. The hostel staff work very hard to keep the bathrooms and kitchen clean; unfortunately it seems that most of the people staying here were very messy and disrespectful and not complying with the signs posted asking to clear up after yourself.

Second time staying at this hostel, but only 1 night this time. Nice quiet and pretty location in Mt Eden and staff are very friendly. The kitchen and cooking facilities are a little too small for the size of the hostel so best to cook at odd times when it's quieter. They have everything that you need though. Bathrooms are proper bathrooms, which I like and always found them to be clean. Not far to a big Countdown supermarket and bus stops to take you into the city or to the airport.

Good hostel, great location. Close to a cheap supermarket. Only problem is that there seems to be a lot of school groups staying (2 separate parties over the 5 nights we stayed) so sometimes there were lots of immature kids running around screaming and shouting and their teachers didn't seem to have any control over them.

Beautiful quiet location, only a bus ride to the city. Kitchen is a bit small if the whole hostel is booked up. Not always someone on reception which is a bit annoying. Internet connection not good enough for skype video calls which is annoying when you have to pay to use the internet. Close to a big supermaket. For us a relaxing stay getting over jetlag.

Fortunately our staff are beautiful kind humans so they need some time off during the day for lunch break. Maybe we will try and get some aliens at the reception who can work 24 hours : ) However, there is a free phone at the reception which the guests can use to call us any time. Thank you for input though. The 24 hour supermarket is a big hit.

The beds are not comfortable but the location is great. Not really enough toilets and showers on each floor but they were clean. The free breakfast could be improved - it's only toast, bagels, a small bowl of fruit and tea and coffee. Would be nice if they offered a fruit juice or cereal too. The windows really need replacing, they still let the cold in when closed and there is a lot of street noise (although they do offer free ear plugs at reception that are quite effective).

This is a cool hostel in a convenient location, don't be put off by the outside! We stayed in the Elvis Presley room but other than the bunk beds it was pretty bare and no lockers but clean. Toilets and showers and kitchen were clean too. Guy on reception took on average about 20 mins to check each person in, I've never seen anyone move so slowly! Bit weird that you have to pay through a paypal account though. Generally a laid back atmosphere but I think it wasn't that busy when we stayed.

Great hostel, showers are clean, kitchen is good and so is the free breakfast, good that they have laundry facilities, good size lockers in the rooms that don't cost anything to use, good location, pretty much walked everywhere - only downside is that the beds are quite uncomfortable.

Good hostel but our room was very cramped, there was hardly any space to move around so it got a bit claustrophobic. There was only one ladies room on the whole floor (but 4 men's rooms?!) and there is no elevator, kitchen or laundry room. The location is good and the free Wifi was good even on the 5th floor. Overall good value for money.

Thank you for your review. You had booked our Basic Twin Private Room. On every floor we have a dedicated woman's bathroom, the remaining 4 per floor are for both men and woman. We look forward to having you stay with us again.

This hostel is extremely over rated. The luggage storage & few lockers are downstairs in a very damp & smelly basement. Our room was filthy & it was really hot & stuffy even with a fan. The duvets on the beds are not changed with each guest. The bathrooms were unisex & seriously disgusting, there were only two showers and toilets shared bewtween 12+ people. The staff were unhelpful, but the Niagara Falls tour they organise is good. Pancake breakfast is good. Wifi was very slow.
