The Maze Backpackers

Sydney, Australia

Not a bad place, bathrooms were a little dirty, kitchen clean, about average facilities. Location was great, right near george street/central station, plenty of food/shopping/grocery around. Was in a 4 bed dorm with 3 long stay guys though.

Typical new hostel problems, showers flooding, crappy key cards, had to pay extra for luggage storage because I checked in early. On the surface its nice but not comfortable to live in. Bar was expensive but busy.

The staff were amazing, big thanks to Stephanie, she rocked! Was clean and secure, decent location, good mood in the bar, only bad thing is the kitchen. A microwave and a few spoons/knives doesn't count as a kitchen...

Bled Hostel

Bled, Slovenia

Had a good time, beautiful city/ area ands was a lively place, with plenty happening.easyto get to, clean and well located.

Riva Hostel Pula

Pula, Croatia

Under construction and a lot of road noise in the rooms. Decent place though, will be good with the construction finished.

Pozitiv Hostel

Zagreb, Croatia

Quite a nice hostel, but it is very far out, 45 minute walk or 30 by tram to the centre, otherwise I liked the place.

Hostel Ruthensteiner Vienna

Vienna, Austria

Only a short stay, dinner and sleep, but friendly bar staff and patrons both there and in the kitchen, clean, good vibe to it.

Patio Hostel

Bratislava, Slovakia

Nice place, right next to the old town area, supermarkets almost directly across the road, easy walk from bus station. I had fun. Kitchen wasnt great, but there was a bar, free table soccer, nice outside area.

Essentially a hotel with dorms. No kitchen, no bringing your own food/drinks inside, and the big dorm is basically not lit. My locker also got broken into and they said it happens, nothing they can do.

Hans Brinker Budget Hotel

Amsterdam, Netherlands

No kitchen, but definitely more hostel than hotel. Kings bikes opposite the entrance wer also great, cross the road, grab a bike and explore the city.

Hi Andrew! Thanks for your review! We don't have a kitchen for common use, but we do serve great and cheap meals every day! A tip for next time you're visiting Amsterdam and staying at Hans Brinker: ask the bar or reception for tickets to activities, attractions or museums! We can arrange cheaper tickets and you don't have to stand in line! See you again soon! Greetings, Hans Brinker

No kitchen, it is really just a local pub with beds. No hostel vibe, but it is clean and decent mattresses, very packed into the rooms with 3 high.

Saucy Mary's Lodge

Isle of Skye, Scotland

Little out of the way, but in a nice quiet town. The sheets were the same from one night to the next for my stay, stripped and folded but not washed (not a problem, long as they wash them between different guests. Reception doubles as the only shop in the village, with a pub by the same owners next door, had decent live music. Would only recommend if you wanted somewhere out of the way.

Ivanhoe Hostel

Rome, Italy

Rome didn't really have a huge party scene, or at least in the area that I found, so the hostel wanted to be much more party hostel than it was, but they had free alcohol or pasta most nights, bunch of cool people staying there and they asked for quiet after midnight. Doors didn't lock though, but they had small lockers for free with your padlock. Didn't have a problem with dirt or staff, location was great.

Hostel Pisa

Pisa, Italy

Yeah, enjoyed the place, only there for a night but it was clean and comfortable. There is road noise, but it didn't bother me...

Hostel California

Milan, Italy

Just don't. The hostel was terrible, very dirty, one shower for about 20 people, and very unsecure. Supposed to stay 2 nights, they overcharged on the city tax, took about 2 hours to check us in, then told us they didn't have beds for us the next night, as they had overbooked. Talking to other guests at least 10 people had to move. Both dorms were accessed through the same door, so people were constantly walking through my dorm to get to their own. Bathrooms were filthy and the staff no help.

Sant Jordi Alberg

Barcelona, Spain

Clean and well kept, wifi dropped regularly. good facilities but dont expect anything to stay in the fridge. The city is nice, but I found the people stuck up, rude and pushy, theft is a real problem, on the streets and off.

Lagan Backpackers

Belfast, Northern Ireland

Really enjoyed it, they overbooked so I got shuffled around a bit, but they were really good about it and it was fine. Would recommend, the staff were cool, tasty cheap food, the breakfast was hot, cooked to order right in front of you and they even had bathmats!
