I only stayed at Banana Bungalow for one night, but I was very happy with the hostel. The location was great for Hollywood sightseeing and the staff were very helpful. It was nice to have a kitchen and bathroom in each dorm too. There was a beach party going on the night I arrived, so it was quite noisy, but the activities offered did seem pretty good. The free breakfast was quite basic, but overall the hostel was very good value for money. I would definitely recommend Banana Bungalow.

Kangaroo-Stop was OK, but nothing special. You have to pay for every little thing (bed linen, internet access etc.) and I've stayed at other hostels that offer better value for money. Also the shower facilities were very limited, which was quite inconvenient. The location was good, though - very handy for the station and a short walk from the historic part of the city. All in all, not a bad hostel, but not the best.
The dorms were really great quality and felt more like being in a hotel than a hostel! Very secure and good value for money too. The bar downstairs was very noisy and there was a big school group there while we were staying, which was a bit annoying. The hostel has laundry facilities, but they are very expensive. On our second day, we came in to find that all our stuff had been packed up and moved to another room, however we were offered a free breakfast to make up for it. Good hostel overall.
We stayed in a 4 bed dorm for our first night and although it was very small (not much room for our big bags!), it was a very nice room and it was handy to have our own bathroom. For our second night, we stayed in a 12 bed dorm in the basement and the beds were damp. We also had only cold water in our shower one morning. It was a bit annoying to have to share one toilet and one shower between 12 people and the bathroom in the bigger dorm wasn't very clean. Great location for the centre, though.
Very small and cosy hostel with friendly atmosphere. The location is great and the hostel is excellent value for money - it's the cheapest place I've ever stayed, but the facilities were good, everything was very clean and the free breakfast was a bonus. The beds weren't particularly comfortable and the dorms didn't lock, but we were only there for one night and it was so cheap that we didn't mind too much. Would definitely recommend Colors Hostel.
We arrived at the hostel very early, but the staff let us store our luggage, have a shower and hang out in the common room until it was time to check in, which we really appreciated. Our room was very clean and the facilities at the hostel were good. Unfortunately we couldn't get the wifi to work in our room, but we were able to use the computer room downstairs, so it wasn't too much of a problem. We only stayed for one night, but would happily stay again!

The location of this hostel is great - it's in a really nice area and there is a subway station just a couple of blocks away. The room (private) and bathrooms were clean and security at the hostel is very good. I only stayed for one night, but was very happy with this hostel and would definitely stay there again.
The hostel was absolutely lovely - very homey and comfortable. Merrilee, the owner, was very helpful and her night walk was a great way to get to know Newport. One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in - would definitely recommend.
Very basic hostel - not very clean and the facilities aren't great. There is no air conditioning, so it gets VERY hot at night. The shuttle that the hostel provides to the train station is really helpful - you can walk, but you need to cross a lot of busy roads and it's not a nice walk. The staff at the hostel are great - really friendly and very knowledgeable about the area, so can give you lots of suggestions of things to do. :) Overall, not bad value for money, but wouldn't stay again.
Perfect location, very clean and good facilities. Really liked this hostel - would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
