The set up is good, the staff are good, but keeping up standards for the basics seems to be a challenge: not enough crockery; dirty sheets; double bookings on beds; broken bed; filthy squishy carpet; only 2 showers working on the 7th floor, with nearly 100 people sleeping there. Maybe this hostel is just too big.
Needs better cooking equipment.
Despite limitations in the location, I would go back to Birdsong for an extended stay. It has a great beach. Just a pity about the smelly pools nearby.
This place is not my cup of tea. Too many young backpackers drinking and looking for love. And the bus loads of backpackers turning up was very off putting, and made it very crowded. Also, the clientele felt ok about not washing their dishes, which is unusual - most backpackers are considerate and fair.
