Lovely Jacobean mansion, super helpful staff, no free wifi if you're not a YHA member, no free breakfast, ten minute walk from High Kensignton St tube station through lovely park. Booked a 13 bed female dorm, stayed in what was more of a 21 bed dorm, with smartly designed bunk beds spread out in a huge room wiht high ceilings and ensuite bathroom. But I prefer a 21 bed dorm like this to a stuffy dirty 13 bed one anytime. Earplugs recommended. Lockers in luggage room and next to bed.
Great central backpacker hostel with secure lockers at affordable prices, nice staff and free breakfast with tea, coffee, orange juice, cereal (chocolate crispies and corn flakes), toast, jam and yoghurt with tinned fruit. Kitchen utilities have no sharp knives or working tin opener though. Loved the strong showers. We stayed in a 6-bed female dorm which turned out to be a mixed dorm but it was no problem to switch. As always in dorms earplugs recommended. Would stay again!
One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. In terms of atmosphere, friendliness and competence of staff, location and cleanliness it is my absolute favourite! Situated right in the city centre and featuring an unique interior design it is an overall very well-organised business with a sensible set of rules. Making your own breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen makes sense as well as keeping quiet after midnight - either going out or sleeping. Showers cleaned twice daily, lockers, wifi.
Large building complex combined with municipal sports facilities a little off the picturesque centre of Besançon but easy to access. Vehicle recommended. Friendly staff, clean rooms with keycard access and apparently all is newly built/refurbished. Bed, wardrobe, table, chairs, wall-mounted flat screen TV, WC + shower ensuite. Painted in bold colours which gives the establishment a jolly if sterile atmosphere. It's not a youth hostel in the usual sense but modern and good value for your money.
