Hostel is in a great location and has the usual hostel vibe with plenty of people around. I stayed in an 18 person dorm, however I still found it very spacious and a perk to the room was the curtains attached to each bunk which meant more privacy. The two floors in the room meant the upstairs felt quieter as away from the door. All facilities were in good condition and I would definitely recommend if looking for a quirky and excellently priced hostel in London.

YHA Auckland City

Hostel was located in the centre of Auckland & 25 minute walk from the harbour area. Hostel was a converted office block & lacked character. The 2 bed dorm was reasonably priced & perfect for any couple travelling. There were the usual kitchen, common room facilities & 2x showers per floor. Hostel was kept in a clean condition. Staff were quite poor during the check-in process. Received free WI-FI on arrival due to being YHA members. Laundry & luggage storage available @ $3 per locker.

Hostel was located just outside the city center. Dorms were spacious with comfortable bunk beds, although plug sockets were not generally in user friendly places. Clean bathrooms & well equipped kitchen area. The WI-FI was not working all the time causing inconvenience whilst trying to organize a campervan trip, however the staff were helpful & did offer to book things on their system during this time. Internet was $3/hr or $6 24hr. Overall the hostel was an awesome experience & would recommend.

The hostel was located in the center of the city and within a 5 minute walk from the greyhound station. The 4 bed dorm was clean, spacious & had large locker storage with night lights being provided above each bed. The hostel had the usual YHA feel with a large communal area & kitchen space provided. Showers were very clean and enough available for all guests. More staff maybe needed during check-in hours. Laundry available although the WI-FI connection was generally quite poor.

The hostel was a 15 minute walk from the greyhound station & a 5 minute walk from the supermarket. The 6 bed dorm was clean, spacious & had large locker storage with night lights being provided above each bed. The hostel had the usual YHA feel however better kitchen equipment was needed as this was often left dirty or in poor condition. Food lockers were available. Showers were usually quite dirty & one was always out of order during our stay. Laundry available & WI-FI connection generally poor.

Didn't get off to a good start with late check in facilities not providing us with a key when we arrived at 2.30am. However this was fully resolved and staff apologetic. Good size 5 bed dorm. En suite could have been a bit cleaner. Nice kitchen and common room area with free BBQ on a Friday. Nice pool area too. Cereal & toast breakfast included along with free shuttle service to Greyhound. Free WI-FI. Staff were really friendly.

Spacious 6 bed dorm with good size lockers. En suite was reasonably clean but the door had warped and was a nightmare to close and hence noisy. Large kitchen was clean and well equipped. Common room and seating area available although anyone could access these areas. The WI-FI was temperamental and couldn't use all the time. Location was very central and good for Greyhound/tour pick ups. Staff seemed a bit careless as they checked us into female dorm when we needed mixed!

4 bed dorm (no lockers) was clean as were the bathrooms. Reception wasn't always manned so anyone could access. $10 deposit each for a kitchen set i.e. plate, bowl, mug, knife, fork. Global gossip Internet available but no WI-FI. Bar below was noisy until about 11:30pm so avoid staying here if you want an early night. Kitchen could have been a little better equipped but was satisfactory given few people staying. Great location for 4 mile beach and for doing Great Barrier Reef & Daintree tours.

Stayed in Room 7 (3 bed) however room 7A was accessed by our room, so technically a 7 bed room. Our room was a walkway and door often left open, plus no lockers. Any other room would be fine for security. Other downside was you had to pay for A/C. The staff were very friendly, rooms and bathroom were spotless. 2x kitchens available and a TV room. Free WI-FI and free shuttle bus into the city. The hostel had nice garden surroundings including pool and hammocks. Overall the hostel was great value.

Smallish size hostel in a good location on mitchell but away from the noisier part. Nice pool & seating area. Outside kitchen attracted flies & most people didn't clear up after themselves so dishes tended to be dirty. Many groups & workers staying there so could be quite noisy. The 4 showers got dirty quite quickly however never had to wait for one. Mattresses could do with replacing as very sunken in middle & not too comfortable. Lovely free breakfast & free laundry with clothes lines.

Nice size hostel about a 10 minute walk to the town. Nice pool & outside area. Laundry available $3. Good TV room with free use of PCs and Internet. Free WI-FI. Free cereal & toast 4-9am good for when going on tour. Free storage of luggage when on tour and free day storage. Dorm was a little dingy and didn't smell too pleasant but free use of lockers and fridge in room. Reception hours 8.30am-2pm & 4.30-7pm. Rooms and kitchen could have been cleaner and staff more friendly but would recommend.

Hostel was a 15-20 minutes walk from the centre of the city. As with most YHA hostels the rooms were spacious with large lockers & nightlights. Staff were very friendly & there were a number of informational booklets on Adelaide. Hostel was located near to a couple of bars/clubs which meant it was a little noisy. Plenty of showers & toilets. Large kitchen & dining area, 2 TV rooms, book exchange, reading room, table tennis & laundry facilities. $12 taxi ride to Ghan station.

We chose to stay at this hostel due to its location whilst driving the great ocean road. The 6 bed dorm was clean, spacious & included small lockers. The only downside was the darkness of the room due to lack of natural light. Had a really cosy large common area which had a TV, pool table, bar, free tea & coffee, kitchen area & laundry facilities. Showers & toilet facilities were very clean. We did feel that the staff could have been friendlier when asking about the local area. Parking at rear.

The hostel needed a paint job & had the feel of an older property. It felt a bit dated with wear showing on the walls & seating whilst the kitchen facilities needed a restock. TV room was right outside a number of dorms rooms and so quite noisy at night despite notices to keep noise down. Owner was friendly & the dorm room was clean albeit a little cool. Showers were located in another building (had to walk outside). Had free parking and WI-FI however only available between 7-9pm.

Right in the centre of the city (north of the lake) & was in a safe area. About a 40 min walk to parliament house. The 10 bed dorm was clean, spacious, had large locker storage with night lights being provided above each bed. The hostel had the usual YHA feel with large TV room, roof terrace & good sized kitchen. Also a jacuzzi, swimming pool & sauna. 2nd floor bathrooms are nicer than those on 3rd floor! Pay for WI-FI, ($5 per day or $10 for 3). Mix of backpackers &older guests working in city.

The hostel was only a 10 minute walk from the centre of Katoomba, where you can get tourist buses to all areas of the Blue Mountains. The hostel was small & cosy & had all the necessities including common room & kitchen areas. The staff member on duty (Kim) was always very helpful & informative. There was no A/C so it did get hot in the rooms during our stay, but the hostel did provide fans in the upper bedrooms. The WI-FI was free & 24 hour codes were given to backpackers on a daily basis.

This was a budget hotel rather than a hostel. Our stay here was pleasant and the a highlight was the hotel being in a really good location on 34th street about 20-30 min walk to times square. The staff were friendly enough, the rooms & showers were clean & tidy. The area felt very safe & secure, whilst small lockers were provided. The rooms were quite small & the water pressure to the showers on the upper floors was quite poor. There was no common room or kitchen, luggage storage is $5 per bag.

This hostel is new & ultra modern. Location is right in Chinatown (5 mins walk from bus station) & only minutes walk to Boston Common area. The rooms had bunks along one wall (including lockers) which allowed for more privacy. Each bed had shelf including lamp & plug sockets. Ample space in common areas & a large variety of free breakfast items each morning. Rooms & individual showers were very clean. WI-FI did not work in our dorm, however there was a sofa outside the dorm where it connected.

Danny was a great host, really welcoming and made awesome pancakes for breakfast. He even made us some on the morning we arrived! Small cosy hostel meant that it was easy to meet people. Free laundry, use of computer and lockers. Area and location was good, especially if travelling with Greyhound. Small downsides was the small dorm but it did seem as if other rooms were bigger. Waiting for the showers or toilet was annoying at times as there were only three. Overall would definitely recommend!

We really enjoyed staying at this hostel. The location is great right by broadway. The facilities were excellent, kitchen well equipped and a large common room to hang out and eat food etc. Rooms and bathrooms were very clean and spacious. Other reviews mentioned cold showers. This is a problem they are currently fixing, however if you stick to the showers on the ground level you are guaranteed a hot shower! Only downside was the lack of lockers. The quiet areas on each floor were good.

The hot water problem was fixed as of January 2, 2013. The industrial tankless water heater had problem detecting low water flow when only one shower or one faucet were being used. When multiple water source was being used the instant heating would turn on. We installed a water circulating system to fix the water flow detection problem. The water is instantaneously hot and never runs out of hot water because it is tankless system.

The hostel was about a 30 minute walk from the city centre. The hostel neighbourhood was a little daunting at night, but seemed fairly safe. Walmart close by. Small common room & kitchen made socialising & cooking a little difficult when hostel was full. Staff were extremely helpful & friendly, also organising nights out & had a good vibe. Could have been cleaner (bathrooms were never really clean) this could be down to the number of occupants & few showers. Free WI-FI & pancake breakfast!

We were on the floor above reception. We found that there were fewer toilets on this floor compared to the one below. If the room with the shower and laundry facilities was occupied this left only one toilet and as there was no basin it meant you could not wash your hands or clean teeth for example. We would suggest at least putting some hand sanitizer in this restroom for hygiene purposes.
