Atmosphere is relaxed, but facilities rather poor. There were no lockers available and parking was a problem. Not funny to be parked in when you want to get your flight at 6 am. Showers weren't too bad. Good for the real backpacker but not when you have a long trip since I didn't sleep the last night because of movies and music in the living room next to the dorms till 2 am (I went sleeping in my car, founding out it was parked in). Staff is friendly and always willing to help, even at night..

Aloha, We do have Free lockers, Free parking and if somehow you are blocked in, like this guy said we will gladly help solve the issue. no matter the time, we also will ask others to stay quiet for those sleeping, unless it seems there is no problem were not going to shush our guests. SO if you choose to stay in our dorms, which share space with 9 other travelers and someones actions are bothering you let someone know. Otherwise nothing will change. Mahalo

Hi, I had a very pleasant stay in Hilo Bay Hostel, the atmosphere was great and the hostel was very clean. Staff was very helpful. However, Hilo itself didn't feel so safe with a lot of suspicious people hanging around. It is also the most rainy place of Hawaii, but a good start place for visiting the volcanoes.

Hi, the hostel is good for the price you pay. It has an excellent location at the North Shore of Oahu. A very nice beach with good snorkeling lies in front of you and there are also good swimming possibilities when surf isn't too high. The rocky beach isn't good for surfing, but Pipeline is close, although as beginners we could only watch the pro's. Premises are set up in a nice plantation village but badly maintained even for a hostel. Bunk beds are not always stable but mattresses are clean.
