Fortmount Apartment, Nairobi, Kenya
7.4
13th Sep 2013

A good appartment, it's not really a hostel but the rooms are very new and clean. The people working in the appartment are very friendly. Easy to get to Nairobi centre, only 10 minutes by bus. Shopping mall and good restaurants nearby. Advertisement on the website is not correct, no washing facilities and no wifi ( they have an internet stick that you have to share ). For the rest a good stay and good value for money.

Cliff Hotel, Amman, Jordan
10.0
21st Aug 2013

This is an amazing hostel, the location is perfect in downtown Amman, opposite to the famous Hashem restaurant. But what really makes this hostel is the staff, we came back 3 times simply because it was such a pleasant experience. Andrew will arrange anything you need and will always give you good and honest advise. The day trips from the hostel are perfect and very reasonable priced. The facilities are basic but clean and especially in this old part of the city it's very good. Def recommend

Fantastic stay, if you are looking for a good hostel this is the place to stay, we stayed at another hostel aswell but service is far from what we received at the Biergarten. The breakfast is great, the rooms are nice and clean, facilities are perfect and it has a great atmosphere. Victor and Anjie helped us with everything, from getting around on the island till booking tickets, i will definitely come back here!

What a great hostel to stay, even though the weather was terrible we enjoyed every minute. The hostel is perfectly situated on the beach, easy to get to by bus. THe owner will make you feel at home staright away, it's more like your staying with family. The area is very nice, beautiful beaches and nature, all and all a great experience, would definitely recommend.

17th Jul 2013

A perfect place to stay and i would have given it a 100% rating if there would not have been a bar next to our room. The staff is great, very helpful and friendly but you can not have a bar open till 4 o clock in the morning while your private rooms are next to the bar. I would be able to understand it if these are guests of the hostel but for 2 nights in a row it was friends and locals of the person who run the bar while the guests were complaining, that should not happen.

Nice hostel with very nice staff, they will help you with everything to get around BA. Location is great, bit of a walk to the centre but this area is very nice and only 200m of the sunday antique/art market which is a must see in BA. Definetely recommend, good value. Only thing that can be improved is the kitchen, way to small for the whole hostel, for the rest all good.

Fantastic Hostel, really enjoyed my stay here! It's a comfortable place to relax, close to the centre and metro and they have such a good breakfast. Hostel manager Mark does an amazing job, great guy who will help you out wih anything, he really makes the place! One comment for the owner, the hot water supply needs to be fixed, i would definetely stay again if the problem get's solved!

Nice hostel, close to the centre with good facilities. Staff is really friendly so i was quite suprised after reading the reviews on hostelworld about unfriendly staff. Only downside was that we booked a private ensuite with a shower that was not working and so small that we had to use the shared bathroom. Good value for money, would stay again.

Great stay and really close to everything in the centre of La Paz. Staff are incredibely friendly and will help you out with everything you need. Rooms are very big, plenty of showers, big livingroom and a nice sort of terras/conservatory upstairs where you can relax in the sun. Breakfast is good ( nice to get toast instead if the stale bread you get througout Bolivia ) Would definetely recommend this hostel!

Stay was okay but not fantastic. The guy who runs it is very friendly. Cabanaconda is a really small town so don't expect anything of it, but for hiking and stuff it's great town to start your trip. To rooms are not very well maintained or clean, also the pictures they show on hostelworld are far from what it really is ( maybe because we were out of season but still ). Overall an okay visit, the condors made the stay incredible so in the end it as worth it.

What an incredible stay! The owner is a fanatastic lady, she made our stay to be one of the best in South America! The hostel is about a 5 minute walk from the old town, it is very spacious and if you go for a private room ask for the private room on the second floor with an ensuite, feels like you ar in a boutique hotel. Facilities are great, 2 kitchens, pooltabel and a nice living room. Every member of staff does an incredible job, definetely the place to stay in Quito!!

What an incredible hostel. Staffmember Susanna really made our stay and with her around you want to stay longer. Took us out for a salsa night and helped us with every thing we needed. The hostel feels like you're staying at a friends home. It's clean, very affordable, big rooms ( i had a private ensuite but the dorms look big as well ), two kitchens, good wifi and it's very close to downtown Cali. Just a lovely place to spend your time and you get free salsa lessons 3 times a week. Brilliant!

The only upside is that it's cheap, at the time i was staying, other hostels in the street were fully booked. The room i stayed in was more like a sauna, advertised as a double private we got more like cupboard with a bunkbed, bathroom ensuite had no door, so the smell combined with the 45 degrees in this little room was a guarentee for not sleeping. No free breakfast even though they advertise it. The guy and girl who run it are friendly but definetely not motivated. All and all a disappointin

Good Hostel, close to the old city. It's a bit noisy if you want to have an early night but the rest is all good. Nice cheap restaurants with good food around the corner.

We do try to keep the noise down by asking people to be quiet after 12pm, but not every one is as considerate as we would like them to be. That said, they are your fellow travellers :)

All together a poor experience. Getting some sleep here is impossible due to the rooftop bar. Bad toilets and staff that is to busy drinking ( with exception of the nice guatemalan ladies that make you breakfast ). Don't let the high rating on several websites fool you, this is not the place to stay. Problems with bartaps that don't ad up and staff refusing to give you an itemised bill. Check the answers of the owner on bad reviews on Tripadvisor, you will get an idea of their customer service!

This place is fantastic, for the price of a simple hostel you are staying at luxury hotel with swimmingpool, great terrace and a 5 minute walk from the entrance of Chitchen Itza. Make sure you always have some ladies in your staff team. A hostel run by a couple of guys is going to turn into a dirty place. Bathrooms and room not clean, booked a private room and got something next to the kitchen that looked more like a cupboard, smelly, damp and next to the toilet. When staff is off ( which you can't tell ) they will simply ignore you or tell you " can't you see i'm not working' . All and all a very poor experience, there other hostels down the road that look a lot better.

View Property Reply

Thank you for your review and suggestions. But, I have to say it seems quite exaggerated. You booked 'basic double private with shared bathroom'. The room is 3x2,5m, has comfortable double bed, reasonable space for luggage, has its own door with own key, has toilet next to it yes, it's definitely not damp (Caribbean is a humid environment). Toilet gets cleaned regularly through-out every day, room also before every arrival, newly washed sheets are put in, no exceptions. We do have ladies on our team and one of them is a cleaner (best we've ever had). Our staff works and lives here, so if you go around asking people off duty you normally get send to reception, no harm meant. Interestingly enough, 2 days ago I came back from traveling around south of Mexico and after all the places I stayed at I felt like a king here, it feels so clean and comfortable (point of view). Comparison with others hardly count when you haven't stayed there, knowing Playa we are confident to have the best overall value. Thank you for your stay and sorry for the inconveniences.

Beautiful hostel in the old centre of Pingyao. Biggest bed i have ever slept in! Make sure you aks for a receipt for anything that you pay, staff claimed we did not pay for the last night but we did, bit of a disappointment since we stayed a week instead of 3 days, staff could not remember we extended our stay twice. They also booked our bus to Xian, we would be picked up by a taxy but had to walk 3 km because they only arranged one small taxi for 5 people, unfortunately staff can't be trusted.
