I stayed at The Greenhouse twice, just prior to a safari and immediately after. Benson arranged the safari which was absolutely fantastic- he is completely connected to the community in Arusha and able to arrange any activity you may want to do including volunteering with his non-profit. The staff and Benson's mother and sister were helpful and able to provide anything you may need. The wifi works, the food is really good (and included in the price), and there is hot water for showers!
The location of this hostel is good, easy to find with fast wifi. There is one toilet/shower bathroom for 10 people in this hostel. Unfortunately, when you book the 'deluxe 4 bed dorm with ensuite bathroom,' it will either be in the reception where there are two bunkbeds in the living room/reception with no bathroom ensuite, or in a 6 bed dorm (not in reception but still no ensuite). There is also a bunkbed almost in the kitchen, also not ensuite. Hostel is tiny and the space is not used well.
Really happy with our stay here. The owner (Kelvin) went above and beyond for us and was really welcoming to each guest as was the rest of the staff. The metro is a 10 min walk but make sure you use the Las Vegas blvd exit (there are signs as you exit the metro). Walk straight to Las Vegas blvd, turn right at the corner. When you get to the pedestrianbridge over Las Vegas blvd go up and over to the opposite side. Then veer left and it's straight til the hostel. Don't continue on Las Vegas blvd!
Great location, great HOT showers 24/7, great staff, great wifi. My only complaints are the noise and lack of bathroom availability in the AM. The hostel is really noisy in the morning, (we were in a twin private) like starting at 730 with the breakfast set-up. Music was being played, people are awake and any talking seems so loud even if it's at a reasonable level. We also stayed at the apartments and looooved it. Would recommend!
Great location, but I wouldn't walk here from the bus station- it is much more confusing than they let on in the directions. Wifi works well, rooms are clean, but the shower is COLD! The security is over the top and the owner has cameras which he will watch from his room which I didn't care for at all. He is also on top of you all the time and his son overtakes the living room which doesn't make for a relaxed time. Make sure to eat at the fish restaurant across the street for lunch, incredible!
I stayed here with a friend and we were both disappointed. The thing you do not see before arriving is all the rules associated with the hostel- including no outside alcohol allowed, fees if you check out late (any time past 1030 am) is addition to many, many others which are posted everywhere. We DID NOT have hot water even after following the instructions. The hostel shuts down at 11 pm, the common areas (kitchen, tv room, front desk room), so you have nowhere to go but your room or out.
Great location, we were given an apartment after booking two private rooms which was amazing and appreciated. Check out is too early.

Beautiful hostel, fantastic neighborhood, and directly across from the metro. The breakfalarks delicious and the staff goes above and beyond. The showers are HOT with pressure. Stay here!
The hostel isn't as inviting as I expected, it's possible that has something to do with how cold it is at the hostel. There is no common area to escape and warm up, and of course the rooms and bathrooms are freezing. You will get hot water in the showers but no pressure. The bathrooms also stink from time to time- my guess is sewage issues. The wifi works pretty well and the breakfast is good although its the usual bread and jam, pay for eggs. Beds are comfortable and the staff is nice.
