My father and I loved this guest house and we'd definitely recommend it! We arrived late and the couple who run the guest house made us feel perfectly at home. You'll never stay in such an authentic Japanese house! It's near to Hikone Castle which is another selling point, but staying in this guest house is itself an experience so arrive early to enjoy it!
The balcony overlooking the harbour is an interesting feature.
This is more like arriving at a second home, than a hostel. The retired owners will make you feel welcome throughout your stay. The building is top quality, well planned-out and spotless. The kitchen is well equipped, with an adjacent veranda to sit outside on. You can really feel the nature surrounding the hostel, being beneath Mt.Mochomu and just above a beautiful gorge. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to others.
The male dorm is very crowded and there is no sound proofing between beds. There was also a lot of activity at night that made for an disrupted night. The female dorm is better with only 8 beds. There is only one shower and one toilet. The kitchen is in need of a good spring clean! But the location is good and you can do free washing there!
An excellent designed modern, Scandinavian-style building that offered an open-plan kitchen, dining room and kotatsu-area which made socialising easy. Everything is well-thought out and you feel you're at home! The kitchen is brand new, complete with a coffee maker! One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in.
This hostel has more facilities than most. A large kitchen, a cozy comic room and a (very) hot public bath. An enjoyable stay!
A really unique hostel and one you won't regret staying in! It is a refurbished 'eel bed' building and everything is in antique style and excellent condition. The 'yawn' cafe attached to it is in the style of an old school room and was the highlight of our stay. The owners are friendly and helpful. Make sure you plan enough time to enjoy this hostel and cafe!
The women's capsule rooms were very hot! The air conditioning system didn't seem to work. This made it difficult to sleep. In the men's room, we would advise bringing ear plugs! The location is great, but perhaps save the 'capsule hotel' experience for a different city.
A unique place to stay with many charms, it's price and look is more like a hotel. But for the price we paid it would've been nice to use the air con for free as it was very cold.
Brilliant hostel but the third bed in the three person room was uncomfortable.
Very helpful staff! Gave us lots of information about where we were going next, and provided hot water on tap. We were also able to check in early. A little noisy at night, but it is in central Osaka!
Thanks for the Bon-enkai! Really enjoyed it!
A lovely authentic guest house where the owners will make you feel very welcome. It's got an excellent location really near the train station. My only wish was that there was a more secluded area for washing.
Great location to visit the Hida Folk Musuem, friendly staff and warm rooms. One of the best hotels I've stayed in. Thoroughly recommend it.
