The description how to find this hostel when you come by MTR is not the best. I didn´t know how far I need to go and if right or left. Atleast there could be a bigger sign at the entrance of the building to know where it is. After check-in I was brought to a different building, the room was okay and the bathroom tidy, so value for money is okay, but if you want something better then you should definitely choose a hotel!

First of all it wasn´t easy to find that place, but then I was really shocked about the area around. It was dirty and I felt unsafe walking through that area where many poor chinese people live. The dorm-room was dark, the bathroom small and dirty and the mattress was hard as steel. Communication with the workers at the reception was nat really useful/helpful cause there english was little.

Was a nice stay, staff speaks really good english and is helpful if you wanna go sightseeing. Only problem is the small kitchen with only one cooktop and a small fridge.

Most things were good, like the beds and the safety with the key-pad-doors. Tidiness was not always the best., rooms can be cleaned twice a week and the bathrooms were kinda old. Also the kitche-equipment wasn´t the best. Good thing was also to have a locker in the rooms, but why is there no key?! All in all it was value for money

It´s an old building and you feel like beeing in an old american movie. The only problem we had was, that our room window was directly over the kitchen hood...

Without the fact, that one of the receptionists was unfriendly and the informations he gaved us were bad was ist a nice place to stay for a few nights. The rooms (we had a private bedroom) are clean and the shared bathroom was also okay. In the price was breakfast included, but don´t think about an hotel one, it´s only toast and cornflakes! A really bad thing: There is now car park for guests of the 'On Top Backpackers'. You need to find a free car park which is a few walking minutes away...

Hi Thankyou for your comments saying a nice place to stay . A Backpackers who was leaving here on the Bottom Bus to go down the Catlins Coast this morning said it was the best breakfast he had experienced on his whole trip saying most Free breakfasts were toast only Another guest made the comment he had recently stayed in a Hotel The only difference between our breakfast and the Hotel breakfast was the addition of fruit and A $58 cost for the breakfast for two. We are in the Centre of Town And The Car Park next to Ontop Backpackers is Free from 6pm until 9 am If you are staying more than one night we tell you where to park one block back for free Thanks Matt
