FRESH @ The Crown, Clapham

London, England

Good hostel. Rooms are clean (unless you have the misfortune of being with dirty people, of course). Location is a little inconvenient, there are buses (line 156 e.g.), but normally you'll have to take a metro after, so it's expensive to buy 2 different tickets each day, so you might want to walk to clapham common metro station directly (15 ~ 20 min). Staff is friendly but no so much. Lockers are ruined and don't work. Loud music is only at night until 12 am, is not a problem like others point.

Backpackers House Venice

Nice hostel. No breakfast. We booked for a 5 bed room but the administrator gave us a room with a double bed, so it was very comfortable. To use wifi you have to go to antico capon, where you do the check in, they'll give you the key and works pretty well. The bathroom is shared and very small. The rooms are inside a private building, so there is no officially a hostel with it's reception, sitting area and staff. Location is great, except if it rains when you arrive :D

My Friends

Florence, Italy

This is a small hostel but completely worth the price: rooms are spacious and clean, bathrooms are shared and are also very clean. And all the place is nicely decorated. The location is excellent, if you arrive by train to santa maria novella you can get to the hostel in 3 minutes. Nadina, the manager, is very kind. she really takes care of everything you'll need. Breakfast is ok. Open wifi in the rooms. The best hostel I've been in Italy.

Hostel Beautiful 2

Rome, Italy

It's a cheap hostel, you can't expect much. City tax is € 1 per night per person. Smelly rooms but comfortable. Breakfast is € 2 (Jan 2013) but it's a simple coffee or tea with a piece of pastry to eat. They give you a ticket and you have to go to a bar next to the building. Wifi works sometimes, but there is a computer free to use. The staff is not friendly at all and one of the guys was impolite with my friend.

Hostel Meyerbeer Beach

Nice, France

The twin room is not very expensive, it was very clean, with air conditioning, tv, private bathroom, mini-fridge, power outlets and personal reading light in every bed, but without soap and shampoo. The 8 bed room is a little smelly (normal when sharing with unknown people), AND, the lockers don't work, so you have to sleep with an eye opened, just in case. Breakfast is very good, many things to choose from, and the staff is veeery friendly and speaks a lot of languages. Free pcs with internet.

Vertigo Vieux-Port

Marseille, France

I really enjoyed the hostel, is very close to the port (a must visit in Marseille) and to 2 of the metro stations. The breakfast is very good. I stayed in a twin room and was very nice, the private bathroom is very clean, the is a lot of space, good decoration, enough light. The staff is friendly and they will give you directions to all the main attractions. The exact location of the hostel is a little difficult to find, there is no wifi and the 2 public computers don't work very well.

Very small rooms, old building, very small staff. Good location, cheap, good breakfast, but you have to clean your own implements.

Owner Comment (Hide)
We are not a huge, big chain hostel but a small, independent, very charming place. Building is old (you're in the medieval city centre of Bruges!!) but is being renovated completely without losing its original charm. Thanks for pointing out our breakfast is good, it is very good value for money (only € 4). Ofcourse we expect people to wash their own dishes, that's the whole idea when you're staying in a hostel, or not? Hope to welcome you again at Lybeer Youth Hostel, keep enjoying your travels!
