A great hostel at a great price. Would highlight that the big room is also split into smaller barracks, which gives more privacy and takes away the fact that there are so many in a room. The guy on the front desk was very friendly. Snacks readily available and all items you may forget The wifi was super quick. Location was ok - better for daylight. On the whole it was a great little hostel and I would stay here again. My only complaint was lack of room for storage in the room for suitcases etc.

joke of a hostel. it was like a concentration camp. the place smelt bad, was incredibly over heated, the staff were african and couldn't speak hardly any english and came across as creepy. the rooms are massive with 18 beds in, no privacy, poor power outlet availability and generally disappointing, considering the location they could have done so much more with this place. i'll never ever go back there again to be honest. it was the worst hostel experience I've had in london in all my life.sorry

good location, but rooms are like prison cells, top bunk is way too high, i fell twice when climbing out of the bed and a roommate fell out of bed and hurt himself - its too much beds in one room and too high. The wifi works, although the seating area is poor and the breakfast staff unhelpful. Could do with more social events to get the guests at the hostel to integrate more and do stuff together. Tube line is a fussy one so take the bus at the end of the street - its cheaper and easier! 6/10

A fantastic hostel. The location is literally perfect! LA is so big that is almost impossible to stay in just one area of the city and still get to experience the city life/hills and tourism/the beaches and piers etc. so this hostel is perfect for those wanting to visit the beaches and famous pier. The neighbourhood is safe and secure and much classier than Hollywood Blvd hostels. Great staff, clean rooms, easy access to transit. 5 STAR! Definitely would recommend if visiting Santa Monica/LA!!!

great location with amazing views - especially if you want to enjoy the surroundings of fishermans wharf and the golden gate area. I would however say that the team when I stayed where a little dismissive and not very friendly. it could have just been a bad day i guess. There is a short walk to the hostel from the transit areas, but its a safe and nice neighbourhood. The breakfast is usual HI free breakfast stuff, but the room is kinda cramped. The wifi is good and covers most areas. 7 out of 10

In a really sketchy area. Dangerous to walk around the area even during the day, despite close proximity to Bolt Bus, Union Station and Downtown. Stick in groups. Hostel itself is good, although its bad that you have to pay for luggage storage when checking out - this should be free. Beds clean, although 4 bed dorm has another room attached with no door - so its basically an 8 bed! this should be advertised! Some floors the showers are communal. WiFi good and breakfast sufficient enough.

There are a good choice of hostels in Seattle - I've stayed at what I would call the 'Top 3'. This is one of them. All 3 are located in prime downtown areas, but in Seattle you still get the less-desirable folk loitering nearby. From this hostel only a block up the street is some kind of shelter/hospital, with a dozen crazy eyes mumbling and smoking meth outside. BUT... this hostel is good! Good breakfast, wifi, near tourist attractions. It's worth staying here if you are in Seattle!

Very dated in comparison to may of the other HI hostels i've stayed @ in US. The plugs in common area were so old they wouldn't take a mac plug! Beds very unstable wood, no shelving for water or phone if on top bunk. no surrounding bars. Location was good and staff were pleasant, but the hostel lacked the spark that other HI hostels have had in America. After previously staying in the Banfield motel listed on here, i'd say pay the extra few dollars and stay there. Just being honest :/ sorry!

I've stayed in a ton of hostels in North America and this one was by far the best. The staff are interactive. friendly, approachable and just amazing. The location is perfect. The common areas are modern, the rooms are clean, the home welcomes you, its not a corporate dorm, its a place to make memories and new friends. Stay no where else in New Orleans, this is the place you want to be! Facilities are all great - bathroom, towels, linens, wifi, garden patio area, kitchen, breakfast etc.

this hostel was horrible!this was foul. sooo dirty and smelly, they had drinking games on but the actual building had no atmosphere, it was stinky. The room was 100 years old. The shower was handheld pipe. DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU ARE NOT FUSSY AND NOT DESPERATE. Its the worst hostel i've ever stayed at in my entire whole life Good: close to subway (but so are most in London!), girl at check in friendly. Bad: everything else! wifi didn't work the entire time i stayed. not even anything!

good location, staff great, wifi worked fine. only real gripe was that the room i was in (right next to kitchen) was so stuffy and hot, and the fan did not do much to bring cooler air, making the sleep really uncomfortable, which is a shame as the bed itself was great. also, shame no mirrors in shower rooms. would stay again when needing to stay in the area.

Ok, its not a hostel, but for the price - PRIVATE room with no snoring neighbours, super fast wifi, tv in room, private bath, toilet and closet! You can't go wrong! Close to Starbucks, Rite Aid, bars, restaurants and most importantly both busses and Max to downtown and surrounding areas, its ideal for a traveller and a good chance for some privacy between hostels and camping! I paid $60 and had an awesome stay, so much so, that I extended my stay the next morning. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

GOOD: * Not too far from transit * Clean and secure * Staff ask to see passes before allowing people inside. BAD: * Location AWFUL. far from tourist attractions and in extremely dangerous neighbourhood. Meth addicts everywhere. One lady was licking a bin, others smoking CRACK outside. felt so unsafe in the area. * Police escorted us back concerned! * No atmosphere, lack of activities STAY IN THE FISHERMANS WHARF HOSTEL, SO MUCH BETTER LOCATION & WITH ALL THE HI BENEFITS THIS ONE HAS.

I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad experience in our neighborhood. It can be a bit intense at times, but I personally love it for the great food, fun bars, and it's central location. Just like Fisherman's Wharf, we have a full time activities coordinator 5 days a week facilitating dinners, walking tours, and game nights in our bar. I hope you still enjoyed your time in San Francisco :) Cheers, Mel - Assistant General Manager

I loved the hostel. It was huge with a lobby you'd expect to see at a large Hotel! The *only* not so great thing was that due to its size it lacked character and was hard to meet people in, but, thats certainly not a reason to not stay there! Its location is excellent, with walking access to city center shops, the lake, the bean and public transit. I would highly recommend this hostel!

Private en-suite room for $40 pn in Manhattan = AMAZING! Breakfast was free (bagel and fruit/cereal) nothing earthshattering but every little helps! Its a bit of a character-less place but thats no reason to not stay there! In the heart of the Gaybourhood - great access to WTC. Bronx, Central Park, Shopping area (Macys) on subway Internet only works in main common room (locked after 11) so that could be improved! Right oppostie a police station so very safe feeling, like most of Manhattan.

Good: Lovely place to stay. Close proximity to the gaybourhood in Chelsea. Rooms are spacious considering there are just two beds. Blocks have different front doors. Receptionist was slightly abrupt but i'll let that slide. WiFi in communal room, lovely garden with lovely christmas tree. Bad: Breakfast non-existent, not many group things going on. Overall: Great place to stay in NYC. Close to the Subway and really good for accessing all parts of Manhattan.

Stayed as a pit stop before an early flight at Heathrow. Close to tube so could easily manage the 2-train journey to Terminal 3. Really nice stay. Room was very hot, but then it was cold outside, so I can understand why heating was cracked up. Room was small but nice big lockers and a nice light on the bed. Bathroom was tiny and was quite poor standard - but this is a hostel right! I'd stay again for the odd night, but don't think I would stay for multiple night trips.
