Great cheap place. Breakfast is free, which was a nice surprise, although I only had five minutes to wolf down some muffins before I had to rush off to a flight. We closed the window in my room because there was an outdoor concert going on nearby, but the room got boiling and I woke up sweating. So I'd recommend using the aircon even if you don't think you have to!

It is true that every room has air conditioning! Gamelin Park regularly organizes concerts, so you can never get bored in Montreal! Safe travels and hope to see you again in Montreal!

Just be forewarned that it is a bit out of the way. But it's a lovely place and worth the trip on the bus to get there.

Hi, We are so glad you found us worth the trip! While we may feel somewhat remote, I really think it's worth it for the beauty and laidback atmosphere of the neighbourhood. Hope to see you next season! Kind Regards, Alex, Front Desk

Mainly giving it a low rating for location because I got lost trying to find the “meetup” point. They don’t publish the address online for some reason and expect you to find a dirty payphone and call them to guide you. Would be much more comfortable if we could go straight there and ring the buzzer. Also, I was not impressed with the showers. Other than that, great! It’s just next to a big night market which is good to stroll around, and the hostel itself is good with nice staff & recs.

security - it would be nice to have lockers or somewhere to put valuables. i know "this is japan", but i don't think we should use that an excuse to be complacent. also, the way to lock the door is not obvious or explained so it was usually left unlocked while i was there. apart from that, i've been here before and would come again, it's a really nice place!

It's a nice hostel overall, but quite big and commercial. The entrance is complicated and you have to go up and down narrow staircases a lot. There's a nice bar with cheapish drinks, but it was too loud for me to relax on my second night. The staff were very helpful, but rushed off their feet and they didn't have much time to help me out (I heard one person was sick, so I can forgive this!). Also the showers weren't so fab - no space to change. I liked renting bikes though, and I'd stay again.

Hi there, Thank you very much for leaving a review of your stay with us! We are happy to see you enjoyed yourself here :) We are sorry the receptionist was a bit rushed! But thanks for understanding as someone had to go home sick that day. So this would not happen normally! Thanks again for your time and we hope to see you back when you visit Amsterdam again! Cheers, The Flying Pig Uptown

I had a great stay here for the second time, and the owner welcomed me back like an old friend. Really well appreciated. The staff had a bit of a difficult time recommending good places to eat or go, but other than that they were so friendly and welcoming. If I was to suggest any improvements it would be to get bicycles that we can rent out. They recommended the city bike rental service, but you can only take that for 30 minutes at a time and it's not so close by.

Quality Hostel K's House Takayama, Hida Takayama, Japan

I've found that K's house has a very consistent offering across its brand. This was good, close to the station and with very helpful staff (lots of guidance and maps, and very careful to explain everything in the house. A bit of a lowkey vibe though.

Nice hostel, very close to the Goryu slopes. However if I wanted to go to the other snowparks, there were only one or two buses per day at somewhat inconvenient times. It is also a bit far from the convenience store and especially the supermarket, for which the hostel owner took people in his van. Aside from that, I had a very enjoyable stay there, and I want to go back!!

Most parts were fine, but I woke up in the morning with a rash, which I presume is from the bedclothes, but could have also been the tatami. This is a known allergy I have, and isn't necessarily down to bad service on their part, but I was wondering if it's possible to request an extra service for those with skin allergies.

Hotel Chuo, Osaka, Japan

Very cheap but the sheet was moldy and the staff who showed me in were unfriendly. It's also not a hostel, but a business hotel that added dormitories as a kind of afterthought. The dormitories were on the 9th floor, but the only showers were on the 1st. The advertised common had only old japanese men sitting there.
