I had a great stay at this hostel. Staff were helpful and friendly, kitchen / dining area was well appointed. The hostel was very clean throughout. Sink in the dorm room was a bonus. The lounge is large with lovely views over the tree studded grounds. The reception area too was large enough for several groups of people to be there without feeling crowded. The main downside is the same as all Scottish YHA hostels - the wifi is too expensive and should be free. many guests complained!

Security was good, but lockers in rooms would have been a better. Great location and view. Staff were friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is ok, but the 6 hour lockout is excessive and doesn't create a homely or welcoming atmosphere. Good value for money. Kitchen facilities were very good - but again with Scottish YHAs the cost f wifi - which should be free - is also excessive. Other than these few gripes - a good place to stay.

Great location and helpful staff - always ready to offer advice - thanks Maddy - I felt like I was at home. Fun atmosphere, without being too hectic - loved the lounge. Always looked clean. I thought it was great value and wifi worked well most of the time an it was free which is as it should be in hostels. Things the hostel owner needs to consider: with the high volume of guests stoves need to be upgraded, hotplates barely worked creating queues for cooking and showers need upgrading also.

I wasn't sure how I'd like this hostel as I'd read some critical reviews, but it was in the location I wanted with a carpark and wifi - so for 2 nights it couldn't be that bad. I was really very pleasantly surprised. On arriving early the staff organsised for me to be allocated a bed and overall were very helpful. Security was good with keyed in locks for late nighters and big lockers in the rooms (mine anyway). It's a great location. Only issue is the poor wifi connection - needs looking into.

excellent security, helpful friendly staff and spotlessly clean. wifi is too expensive and should be free or a lot less than 5GBP. Kitchen was very hot to be in - even with windows open = needs a fan

Great location and knowledgeable, helpful staff. The atmosphere is lacking and feels a bit institutionalised. No pillow slips in my room - maybe an oversight and the doonas are very heavy for warmer weather. Either a top sheet or lighter blanket for summer months is needed. Good kitchen and dining area facilities, as well as car parking. They should have free/ or much cheaper wifi 5GBP for use is too much.

Cancun Plaza Condo Hotel

Great location - and that's where the good news ends. Facilities listed which were not available and which prompted my choice were: wifi in room (I could not get wifi access anywhere in the condo complex with the username and password given to me by the guy who appeared, took me to my room, took my money and left - there was no reception attached to the condo I had rented via hostelworld ) - luggage storage was not available and I needed this facility. Be wary of booking this place.

A great location to access the airport. Locked up like a drum - only probs can be trying to get back in if you go out and no-one is at the reception desk. Jorge the owner is the most helpful proprietor re: info and booking taxis and how to get where you want to go - outside of Guatemala City, which, let's face it most of us want to get out of. His Mum cooks a great meal too!

Pretty average - no wifi as advertised - had to go to another hostel to use their internet. Located up near the entrance to the hotspools which is the cheaper part of town for eating out which is a bonus. the pillows at least weren't lumpy.

the hostel appeared to be suffering some form of crisis when I was there - 2 nights, then a third after island homestay. there was no hot water for at least 2 days. and when there was some, showers were lukewarn for 30 seconds at best, then cold again. many travellers complained. the girls at reception did the best with what they had to deal with. they organised prompt taxis for everyone. the pancake breakfast was a bonus. overall if you don´t mind a cold shower nd are just passing thru, it´s ok

Pariwana Hostel Cusco

Cusco, Peru

Have stayed here 3 times and used Pariwana as a base for accessing Puno and Sacred Valley. The building is full of character, security is excellent, as is the location just 2 blocks from the Plaza de Armas and just off Plaza San Fransico (where collectivos stop). Can´t speaking highly enough of the Reception staff, no matter who is on, they go out of their way to help everyone and always with a smile. However the noise late at night and unnecessary dining room loud music needs to be looked at.

Helpful, friendly staff at this well run hostel. good options for self catering - well equipped kitchen - or having a good value meal in, at their BBQ which was on most nights. Nic and the other staff gave great advice and the tour options - especially the Argentina Tour Day were worth it. not far from the main bus station and supermarket so accessing transport to the falls/airport was easy. a good breakfast too!

stayed in a well appointed 4 bed dorm with a great bathroom. unfortunately the bar area was straight off it and this made it very noisy. the kitchen facilities need attention - only one 10cm frypan between 2 kitchens and 2 pots. told by the manager things were stolen by departing guests - only place I've stayed in with degree of loss. on the upside you can pay by credit with no extra fee.

Backpackers House Paraty

Have waited until my 2nd visit there to write, in case my 1st glowing impression changed next time round. Nope. Can't fault it. don't usually give 100% recommendation, but host Pablo, ably supported by the always cheerful and helpful, Adrian give 200% all day every day and that's what makes Backpackers House a cut way above. the breakfast is a banquet - hope for Pablo's wife's banana cake among other goodies. the atmosphere for travelers replicates home and the place oozes character. Well done!

Hotel Internacional

the only complaint that could be made was: my daughter rang reception to ask for another pillow and the staff member said it was not possible. i find it hard to believe that there was not a spare pillow anywhere in the hotel. it did affect her sleep that night in an otherwise comfortable room. on a very positive note: the water pressure in the shower and temperature control of the water was excellent.
