This is a great hostel with good possibilities to sit outside. The staff is friendly, good atmosphere, nice room. Only downside: as usually in New Zealand the internet is expensive. Highly recommend to stay there though- good for long term and short term stays!

It´s quite an experience to stay there! We enjoyed it very much and basically everything is great about this hostel. The only thing to mention: it is really cold in there when it is cold weather. So probably it´s not the best place to stay for people who like it warm and cozy- just a warning though and shouldn´t be a problem in the warmer months of the year.

This hostel is okay for a 1-2 night stay. It is rather old and some renovation work should be done. The staff is great. Cleanliness isn't great for australian standards, but it's acceptable. Internet worked fine. It's warm

Lovely, small, family run hostel. Very nice owners who are trying to improve their already great hostel even more. Got a discount without asking because there was construction work during the day (which didn't affect us at all though). Pool could be cleaner, but ok. Room was very comfy with a unique bathroom. Internet worked well enough. Good facilities. Free drinking water, coffee

This hostel is still being renovated but as far as we could see this place will be really nice when it is finished! Nice staff. Construction work didn't bother us too much. Our room was already renovated and nice (although there are still some minor issues). Got a free room upgrade because of the construction work going on! Quiet. It's more like a hotel than a hostel. We don't understand why this hostel is so popular. It seems very average to us. The internet was really slow. The bathroom is old and in our floor was only one small sink and the showers and toilets were in a very poor condition. It is okay to stay there but there are far better hostels out there.

View Property Reply

that's not very nice! We have one of the fastest hotel internet connections in the country (download speeds of 1.5MB/Second - it's a very expensive connection), bathrooms and toilets are cleaned 2 or 3 times a day, and nobody ever complained about only one sink on the second floor before. There are 8 more sinks upstairs and downstairs - a total of 10 toilets, 9 sinks and 8 showers we felt was more than enough! The whole hostel is less than 2 years old so nothing is 'old'.

This place was overbooked which is why we didn't get to stay there. The staff was really nice though and helped us find two other hostels for the same price in the area (walking distance). From what we saw while we arranged for our actual place to stay it looked really nice. We definitely would have liked to stay there! The location good!

Our private bathroom wasn't cleaned when we moved in and didn't have a toilet. They should write in the description that the private bathroom (at least the one we had) doesn't have a toilet. We would have just stayed in a room with shared bathroom if we had known in advance. The staff is okay, but not very helpful or anything. The hostel doesn't look newly renovated (as they say it is), but it's average/good enough. The internet didn't work well. Stay there anyways because of the great location!

The common area and room are quite good. The location is okay. What bothered us was that often no one from the hostel was around. No real help with organizing our trip to Kuala Lumpur and in the end it would have been better we hadn't asked at all because we just waited and in the end didn't get tickets or any useful information after all. No laundry service. If you decide to stay there don't expect to get a lot of service/info/help.

View Property Reply

The information about how to book bus/flight/train to KL is provided in details (time of departure and links) - to cut of the agent's fee - at the reception desk information book and also is pasted on the wall in common area and the halls of rooms with shared bathroom located. Seems pax is get used to doing organized trip rather than old-style of DIY traveling. We have informed them clearly that they can read it themselves - repeatedly as our aim to offer cheapest option to guests.

ONLY go there if you are there for diving with Sail Rock Divers. For regular backpackers the location really sucks- you need to take expensive taxis to the nicer beaches, nightlife etc. The village and beach right there are horrible (seriously). The managers only seem to be interested in diving- NO tour booking, info, taxi calling, laundry service etc. Often there was no one around, for example when we wanted to check in. We didn't feel welcome although there weren't a lot of guests at all.

Nice owner. Location ok. Beach not so great (wouldn't travel there again). No internet in the room, otherwise the room was good. Comfortable bed, Tv with Dvd player, towels, cupboard- all good. Enjoyed our stay there because the owner is friendly and cares about things. We don't recommend going to that area of the island though.

Excellent security which is important in Manila. Location is okay. The common areas are very clean, the rooms could be a little cleaner. Big apartment style rooms with kitchen, closet etc. - stayed there 3 times in 3 different rooms. Only one AC in each apartment and so it takes forever to cool the whole place. Therefore we closed the doors and only cooled the bedroom. Double beds are a (little) too small. Internet ok. Sometimes wierd smell from outside and canalization. Overall okay!

Location and staff is ok but seen much better! We stayed there 2 times, 1 night each. The second time there was a problem with hostelworld bookings (overbooked, according to the staff) and we agreed to stay in a family room for the same price as the double room we booked. Only when we entered the room and already paid we saw that the bunk beds are kids size. Therefore our legs hung out of the bed all night:( The hostel is small, as are the rooms. Bathrooms are tiny! Can't recommend it!

We liked that it isn't right by Alona Beach- just a short walk away from all the tourism craziness. Beautiful garden and bungalows! Nice bar and good breakfast. Quiet and peaceful. Great atmosphere. Well maintained and clean. Very nice and helpful owners! Organized a driver for the day for 2000 peso. Only bad things: mattresses are a little thin (but okay) and the neighbours animals can be rather loud at night (sometimes more than others). Anyways, this is a great place to stay!

The rooms (we stayed in a double, then in a familiy room) are small, the bathrooms tiny. Not clean enough. Family room has very short bunk beds- too short for adults (our feet hung out and we are average height). Not a great hostel. Looks a lot better on the photos.

Close to the airport but in a secure and central area. Well maintained, clean b&b. Very nice and helpful staff. Excellent traditional breakfast included. Tour booking possible but even if you don't book a tour they are glad to help you plan your time and give good tips. Nice view of the vulcano from the balcony. Good value for money. We had a minor issue with the laundry service but they agreed that we didn't have to pay for it so that was fine too. A great place to stay!

Do yourself a favour and don't stay there. It is in the middle of nowhere but it's not the pretty countryside either. The owner wasn't there and no one there spoke even a word english. The stray dogs were scary at night, we were the only guests for two days, the house of the people running too far away for getting help at night (the dogs didn't let us close to their house). We had a huge spider-like insect in our room and it took us a lot of time to get help. It was scary at night. Dirty too.

The place was nice and clean. The owner was very helpful. Our room was pretty but our bathroom was a disaster. Everything in the bathroom leaked and flushing the toilet was real work.
