Character was thematic in that it was ALL graffiti, and all dark, dank and hostile.Security was the worst encountered on our trip of Europe - it is quite possible to walk into any room at any time straight off the street. Only one key per shared room is provided.Staff were defensive, however did try to speak English. Atmosphere was hostile - people drinking on the staircase and blocking access at any hour. Cleanliness appalling - use Museum toilets instead. Cheap for Paris - AVOID AT ALL COST.
Good kitchen. Somewhat awkward location - near city centre, but could only be accessed from an odd little sidestreet.
Very expensive. Very difficult to find (little exterior signage). Lack of current tourist information. Cooking facilities appalling, however an Indian 'packed' lunch (at an extra charge) was offered. Atmosphere was lacking - general lack of enthusiasm.
Excellent location - not particularly pretty front door but certainly ideal for people wishing to see the city. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Appreciated the help with directions; etc. Free tour was interesting. Breakfast was amazing. Also we had one of everything on the cocktail menu - no regrets.
Location was the only real issue - very far from the city centre and the train station, had to take a lengthy bus journey each day. Played 'The Sound of Music' in the bar one evening - good film to drink to (had a few beers).
Best place we stayed throughout the whole trip of Europe - honestly brilliant! Free drinks, awesome bar, very good quality for money, good accommodation, free tour guide, free city map (with tourist information) - They did absolutely nothing wrong and everything very well; will recommend to everyone!
Discounted Italian restaurant next door. Middle of city centre (two minutes walk to the Astronomical Clock, short tram journey to main castle). Cleanliness could be improved, but staff were generally helpful.
High quality hotel right next to the airport (don't worry, you can't hear the planes at all). Ideal for people stopping over, but a half-hour train journey to places of touristic interest in Berlin city centre (Brandenburg Tor, The Wall, etc). Decent restaurant, but charges for wi-fi. Absolutely astonishingly massive bed. Would recommend.
Appreciated a free breakfast. Had a decent bar, and friendly staff. A decent walk from the centre, but situated near good transport links.
