L'Oasi Hotel Residence

Rome Fiumicino, Italy

The only reason I gave the staff a rating of "average" was because of the amazing!!! woman who worked the bar at the pool; otherwise the staff at the front desk verged on creepy and obsessive. One night our group stayed out late and decided to skip the breakfast at the hotel and sleep in. This resulted in a random staff member unlocking our room while we were sleeping to check if we were there AND the man at the front desk constantly badgering us as to why we didn't choose to eat at the hotel.

This place was great for our stay in Pisa. It's a little out of town, but there are restaurants and bars within walking distance. You can even walk to the tower from here. The rooms are very clean and are equipped with ceiling fans which are a blessing with the Italian heat. This is our second time staying here and we were pleased both times, the place is a great value.

Casa Chiumento

Venice, Italy

This place is charming and just outside the main tourist trap areas. You can easily walk around the neighborhood and find anything you would in the main square (shops, gilatto, outdoor markets, resteraunts, etc.) but there are less crowds and it's also a little cheaper too. We had a basic twin and were quite pleased. The room was clean and quiet with a pleasent view of the canal below. There is also a grocery store near by if you're looking to stay on a budget when buying food and wine!

If your looking for an inexpensive place with a fun atmosphere, this is the spot for you. It's a bit small and a little out of the way, but the fun and homey atmosphere makes up for it. Plus, with a group, it's only a 20 baht ride to the center of town. In terms or USD, that's less than a dollar a cab ride.
