Great place, right opposite of the ruins. The host is super friendly, you can't imagine. The breakfast provided is among the best you will get throughout your trip. Good place for couples. But: You must like animals (the place is pretty much only separated from the jungle by a wooden wall and she has a couple of pets). In addition the place is right at the highway. Apart from the hostel, I dont really think Tulum is worth visiting in comparison with many other much nicer places in Yucatan.
The privates are quite small (can barely fit the queen-size bed), but it does the trick. Facilities are ok (even though I cant say anything about the kitchen). It's right in the center of Oamaru with a couple of good breakfast places/restaurants. 5$/24h Internet.
Well some might it call Character/Atmosphere when you see people playing bongos and wearing the same clothes for 3 straight days, but it was a bit too much backpacker-style for our liking (couple around 25 yrs). The facilies have come quite of age and the cleanliness could be better. On the bright sight the city is really close and its amongst the cheapest places in Queenstown I could find. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Well a more or less typical YHA, which always seem pretty commercialised in my opinion. Staff was helpful enough, location just as good/bad as it can get in Franz Josef town (which only consists of 2 streets). Room was nice, kitchen ok and the sauna great :). Internet 5$/24h.
Greymouth doesn't have much to offer but a stopover during your trip down or up the westcoast, but this hostel is a great place to take a night's break. The owner is really friendly, kitchen quite well equipped. Ensuite room was quite nice too. Internet: 30 min free/person
One of the best hostels I have stayed in. All new, especially the private rooms and nice decoration everywhere. Staff was super friendly. Parking is a bit limited, but on the street you should be able to find a spot. Free (good!) bread in the mornings. Internet: Free flatrate except at night (when it's turned off)
Well a more or less typical YHA, which always seem pretty commercialised in my opinion. Staff was helpful enough, location within walking distance dowtown and to plenty of restaurants. Kitchen could have been cleaner, room and bathroom was good. Internet 5$/24h. Parking 7.5$/24h, 10 min away.
A bit hard to find because it's in a one-way street with (limited) parking in the backyard. Private room was nice, even though it was a bit strange that the bathrooms upstairs only have tubs. Downtown is easily reachable on foot, but you'll need a car for the major attractions. And the smell is not the are of the hostel - it's the whole city ;). 1$ will by you quite a bit of Internet.
2 private rooms share one common area with kitchen, bathroom and a tv with dvd and a balcony (well, when you're on first floor). And since we were the only party staying there we basicly had it all for ourselves, so awesome! In the mornings the Chinese cleaning crew comes by and gives your place the propper rub. Beach in the very front of the hostel, "downtown" can be reached by car in 3-5 min. Internet 20mb/person for free, but quite limited range.
I've seldomly encountered such a laid-back host, great guy :). The place is really nice and about 5 min on foot from the waterfront. When you stay upstairs you can see the sea while having breakfast! Kitchen could use a few spices though. Internet: I believe ~50mb free
The ensuite-rooms are great, the privates with shared bathrooms are a bit aged, but still quite alright. Kitchen could have been a bit cleaner, but comes with a good variety of spices! 200 mb free internet per person. Supermarket and restaurants within 15 min, bus to city 2 min (takes 10-15 min downtown).
Very great place and very recommandable - only one small downside: A lot of door-slamming from both other guests (evening/night) and staff (from 7-8am) from other rooms on the floor, which made nightssleep a bit rough.
