Nice little place on one of those ridges that run up from Trieste - it felt like being one of the locals. The place was very well appointed, immaculate kitchen and dining area with large clean rooms upstairs. An ideal place for couples who don't want to push past dirty dishes left in the sink to get a glass of water. Everything works including good internet. Access to the city is easy via the buses.
One of the more bizarre 'hostels' we've stayed in. Don't get me wrong, the room was clean and very comfortable, the location was great (very close to rail and bus stations) but some of the rules and behaviours were very unusual. At times it felt more like a refugee centre than a hostel. First the internet - you can only have 30 mins each day!!, secondly breakfast - don't do it, it gets served on a plastic tray, the coffee is undrinkable (no tea). Towel? No! I suggest you try Hotel Leonardo
Room was very nice. Location of the hotel was great, just opposite the railway station - of course some drawbacks because of noise but, hell, close the window. Staff friendly and helpful. Would have been nice to be able to make a cup of tea in the morning but the cafes are very close.
Nice little hostel in the old town a short walk from all the sites. The staff were low key but very helpful. We had a great room at street level. A highlight was breakfast where, we would all sit overlooking the street and discuss the interesting architecture of the adjacent buildings ( apparently using a spirit level is not necessary). It was hosteling of old where people would talk talk to each other and recommend places and things to see and do. We loved it.
Philipe and staff were tops - always time for a chat and took an interest in what you were doing. great garden around the hostel gave it a really nice vibe. We're both sorry we missed the cocktails night. The kitchen facilities and dinning common areas were really good. Our twin room was one of the smallest rooms I have ever been in, but the double room was just awesome. toilets and showers fine. The location was great and we felt like we were living in the REAL Barcelona.
Very well run little place this. Great location and centre to the action. Inside the facilities and fittings are modern and well designed. The kitchen/common area was like a modern kitchen at home - had a very nice feel to it. Freddy was a great host, gave us some really good tips for hikes in the Sierra Nevada and insider suggestions for accessing the main historical features of the city. We highly recommend the place - Oh yeah, and the wifi works.
Fantastic staff - really helpful, friendly and they had some activity organised every night (Thanks Leon). Our room was great but the street got a little noisy on Friday night. Bit of a hike to the showers for boys and the toilets were a little cosy. Security wise, there was someone at the entry door all the time which was comforting. Kitchen facilities really good and free breakfast is always a bonus. We both liked the atmosphere of the place and went back a second time.
We enjoyed our stay, the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was raining hard our last day and even though we had checked out, they allowed us to stay and keep our stuff in the common room which was greatly appreciated. The bathrooms were always kept spotless and the free breakfast made the stay very good value. The rooms were very roomy with TV and comfy. We would have liked to use the kitchen to cook our dinner but you can only use the microwave, which was a bit limiting.
The staff member we met was outstanding - really helpful, patient and provided us with lots of tips for travelling in Switzerland. The Biber was in a great location (very close to the rail (airport), had all the facilities, very clean and neat. Beds were very comfortable and bed linen some of the best we have slept on in 7 months. The common room was very cramped and the kitchen on our floor was well equipped and maintained. We went on to stay and Glocke Hotel (Bern) and DaVinci (Lucarno).
Hotel 161 exceeded our expectations. Great little lounge and bar downstairs and great little eating places just outside. Our room was very comfortable, nice bed linen, spotless bathroom, all well maintained. The carpet in the room was stained and old but this was a minor downside to a very nice hotel. The staff were very friendly and had good English. We enjoyed our stay and would have liked to have stayed longer.
It's seems a lifetime since we left Kashgar (Kashi) but felt we had to say something. The staff were incredibly nice and we got the great tip for the trip to Tashkurgan . The setting was awesome, just opposite the main mosque. Has a small kitchen and great coffee at the cafe. The frequent dust storms, hostel landscaping and renovations made the place incredibly dusty and the rooms were overheated (must be great in winter). Very interesting, no, fascinating fellow travellers stay here.
The location was great but the entry, cafe and rooms were all a bit shabby and needed a good clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The manager was very quick to fix the shower when I reported it leaking. So while the place needs some repairs (timber work in the bathrooms) and a really good clean, we sort of liked it. The all important internet was working along with the fact that they know how to make good coffee. Directions on how to get to Tian Chi were clear and accurate.
What can I say about this place - it was amazing. We were upgraded which was very nice, but the place was superb. Very well managed, very friendly staff, very clean, well appointed rooms. A little way out of town but very close to the sand dunes which are amazing. The staff helped with forward bookings and provided transport into town and to the train when we departed. My only comment was that room internet charges were a little high. Cafe and reading room on the roof was delightful
The staff are excellent. Really appreciated the effort that some went to help us find forward accommodation and transport. The rooms are clean and comfortable and warm ( it snowed in Shanghai when we were there). We are going back.
Fort Kochi is a lovely place but the Casa Mia family were just awesome and convinced us that Kerala is a place that we should visit every year! One word describes conditions at Casa Mia 'perfect'. The place is absolutely spotless and the family are very warm and helpful. Comfortable clean beds, showers that work, internet, great breakfast , this mum works hard for her family and guests. We really appreciated our stay here, great location close to the ferries and great little restaurants.
Really enjoyed our stay with Ananda B& B. Very friendly and helpful - Pankaj even took me down to the local market to help with money, printing and other essentials. Organised taxis, directed us to places where locals shop and advised on rickshaw fees. Facilities are great, very clean, hot water and clean comfortable beds. Other facilities include flat screen TV (cable), electric jug, fastest internet connection in India! Home away from home. Book early, it's popular.
The staff were perhaps the rudest we've met in China to date. They would hardly look up from their computers to answer any questions. I don't expect staff to greet you like a long lost friend, but it's not too difficult to fake a professional courteous manner when dealing with guests - they didn't even bother to try. Perhaps they are just sick of loud mouthed arrogant foreign tourists? Other than that the place was pretty good. Maybe because of staff attitude, it lacks atmosphere.
