Very good location - near China Town but away from the noise. Bathrooms need work - water everywhere and not cleaned that often. If you're in an upstairs room, ask for one with a window.
We booked this room as a 'Hostel World Deal' that included either breakfast or dinner or a pool swim. Only problem was that the staff not only didn't have a clue about the offer but once they found out they were very reluctant to honor it. In general they were super arrogant and we had a better time across the road at the Jasmine Family Hotel - a much better vibe!
Under new ownership this place shows lots of potential. We were there while the new beds arrived and there are plans for changes and adjustments. We enjoyed the clean, quiet '3-bed dorm' (which is actually a 6 bed dorm) - but roomy enough. A place to keep an eye on for value for money!
Good location and well kept. Staff were a little terse and general vibes a little sterile but generally a nice stay.
Great value-for-money! The pool was a real winner and the staff was great. Allot closer to the old town than we initial imagined - an easy walk to town and cycling to the beach is easy too.
Basic yet friendly hotel slightly away from the business of Catba. Good value for money meals but tour bookings a little pricey compared to other agents.
this hostel had some great aspects - location good near lots of restaurants, bars, walking distance to museums etc. The free brekkie is great too, and hostel sheets v clean with fresh towels. The only downside was although the staff were super friendly, their advice was just totally inaccurate many times. For example, pricing of taxi journeys, opening time of post office, and then the halong tour we booked through them was a series of miscommunications and disappointments.
The best part of Sunny's is the huge window onto the rice terraces - stunning. Besides that the staff are terse to unfriendly and ordering food is a little akward. The vibe at the hostel at the top of the hill is much better!
Great hostel with a really positive feeling all round
Wonderful "boutique-hotel" styled hostel with the friendliest staff we have come across by far! Located away from the craziness of Yangshou, this is a great spot to chill from busy Chinese travel. And the food is very good too! Highly recommended!
A simple clean up would turn this place into a great hostel. Showers and toilets are manky.
More of a home-stay then a hostel - Galina's is a good place to understand life in Russia. It does feel awkard being in her appartment but if you can get over that then its a nice change from normal hostel living.
Firstly, good luck finding the place - signage was super poor and we were locked outside for 2 hours, even though we had emailed and confirmed an early arrival. One shower worked (although admittedly a new shower was being installed). Staff were not friendly, well actually didn't care. Not a great stay at all.
Great location and genuinely positive staff. A place with a good heart in centre of Amsterdam.
