If you want a great scenic view of the new city, then this B & B is hard to beat. It IS pretty hard to find however, even with your GPS, so suggest you get very specific directions from the hosts...who are very helpful by the way. To get to/from the old city you'll need to catch the bus down the hill a bit from the B & B but the return bus trip is very scenic and part of the tourist experience.
The staff were great at Plavi 9, but sadly the accommodation facilities have seen better days. The bathroom fittings were on their last legs (though we did get hot water OK in the shower). While it was a relatively cheap place to stay, it IS a bit of a hike to the centre of the city (about half an hour walking ...though you CAN easily catch a tram nearby), and as mentioned, the place needs a bit of an upgrade.
Good location in terms of being close to Omonia and walking distance from Athens' main archaeological attractions. Also close to plenty of good cheap food spots and the market areas. It IS located in a fairly dodgy part of town, but we never felt threatened, and there's a police station nearby if needed. Beds were good, shower was fantastic and breakfast was very good. Initial desk clerk on arrival was very helpful & friendly, but subsequent staff were somewhat unsmiling and unenthusiastic.
Location is very good, being close to the town centre, and to the beach front. The room was certainly comfortable, though the shower was a bit quirky (still worked OK though). The owner and his family are super helpful and friendly, and great hosts. Look for the fattest cat in Turkey... he lives there! Overall a good experience in a pleasant town with some nice eating places nearby.

Heard good things about Cheers even before we got there and it lived up to our high expectations. The location is superb (right near all the main Sultanahmet attractions). The top bar is pleasant and has a great view of the surroundings. The staff were excellent...very happy and welcoming, and always helpful. Hard to fault really!
