Good location: easy walking distance to the castle and to the old street. The dorms (both 4 and 6) are great except the lack of proper curtains?! Not the biggest party hostel in the world, was pretty chill when I was there and that's probably due to the fact there's no massive communal hostel. Great value for money.
Really rate this hostel. Location wise it's very good, easy walking distance to the river, the Baths and the 'ruined pubs' etc. Dorms were large, comfy and clean and the bathrooms were excellent. Although we didn't go on them, there's free walking trips and outings during the week too. Would definitely recommend.
Good location and free breakfast is excellent. Staff were very mixed.
Location was decent, food is overpriced. Not sure whether I just caught the staff on a bad day (or should I say 3), but they weren't particularly helpful.
Decent location. Beds were a bit hard. Owners were lovely and helpful.
Best part of the hostel is the staff, they are fantastic! Food is good and well priced. the 4 bed dorms are massive and have curtains for privacy which was a nice touch.
Fantastic place to stay. Steven and his family were lovely and incredibly helpful. Steven met me at the bus station which helped me out a lot! Ate breakfast, lunch and dinner there and it was excellent. Would definitely stay again!
Excellent location, next to the night market streets and food streets etc. Facilities provided are very good also. Staff are excellent, but sometimes gave us information that turned out to be outdated/wrong, check yourself beforehand!
Good place to stay, nothing remarkable.
Dorms were quite small and bathrooms more often than not were quite dirty.
Hostel is an absolute nightmare to find, ask ahead to get detailed instructions. 4 Bed dorms are fine, if not a bit cramped. Twins and singles looked nice though. Staff were helpful in instructing us on where to go considering the location's a bit out of town.
Fantastic location in the heart of Nanluoguxiang hutong. Clean, decent beds and a good bathroom.
Good value for money, helpful staff
Staff were really useful (most of the time) in terms of information about booking trips to Tiger Leaping Gorge / Shangri-la and beyond.
Fanstastic hostel for those travelling alone
Decent location. Dorms are pricey considering their size and the number of people packed into them. However, staff were incredibly helpful and were constantly cleaning the place. Perfect for small groups / single travellers wanting to meet others and socialise / head out to explore HK night-life. However, if you're more interested in early nights and being in the centre of town, this probably won't be for you!
Excellent location: 2 minutes walk to subway, 5 minutes walk to bay. Ignore any rumours about Chungking, it's incredibly safe and the rooms secure. Single rooms are a bit cramped, but that's HK. Staff really make this place, they are excellent and incredibly helpful in suggesting things to do / places to see. No communal area as such, so people wanting to meet other travellers may want to consider somewhere else. Would definitely stay here again.
Although it says 'hostel', this is actually a Chinese hotel-cum-hostel. As a result, it doesn't quite have that 'hostel' vibe, so don't expect any mad partying. On the plus side, it has good sized rooms and comfy beds. Staff speak good English and are helpful when pushed - a typical Beijing trait I think! Really good location and good value for money. The tiny 'communication area' on GF should definitely be open later than 10pm though!
Pros: Rooftop terrace gives better views than some mid-price hotels (and prices aren't unreasonable either). Multilingual staff are both friendly and helpful. Location: it's 5 minutes walk from the bund. Price for dorms: £5 for a a clean, large 8 bed dorm is excellent (also when considering its location) Cons: Shower rooms on 4th floor were dirty and stank. Often no hot water in showers (fine in Summer, nightmare in Winter).
