Hostel Cat

Las Vegas, USA

What is great about Hostel Cat is the atmosphere - the parties and excursions are cheap, awesome and you have to get involved. Accommodation is simple, air conditioned and clean. Neighbourhood seems a little sketchy but location wise it is very quick and easy to reach the strip or downtown.

We really enjoyed staying in this lovely American home. Hi-Houston has everything including swimming pool, snooker table, hammocks, free phone/PC/wifi, tea/coffee. It's a hostel designed by travellers for travellers and has to be one of the best I've visited in the world.

Very homely little hostel with staff that live here and take a lot of pride in the property. I loved the location but you really do need a car to explore the valley and the lakes.

Barnacles Temple Bar House

Dublin, Ireland

Rooms are very small and stuffy. Bathrooms stink of mould so watch out if you have allergy's. we had room next to the common area so barely slept (perhaps request top levels if choosing to stay at barnacles). Also group of high school children here which I thought was highly inappropriate and irresponsible from management - this is an adult environment. Overall it's OK here, just expect to get what you pay for.

My main grumple is that a couple of staff members are extremely patronizing when dealing with customers who spoke english as a second language - shame when we (english speakers) travel the world and everyone is so patient and accomodating. I was disgusted. MANAGEMENT TRAIN YOUR STAFF! Everything else about hostel is OK - lots of common areas and good atmosphere, but dirty showers. ewww

Wombats City Hostel Munich

Munich, Germany
69%

Not happy with security - homeless people frequently lobbying through bins inside hostel common areas, no wifi in rooms - lobby looked overcrowded and uncomfortable with everyone competing for wifi, understaffed at reception. Staff just not aware of guests in hostel - punks running around room areas playing pranks on other guests ALL night - not really acceptable. This hostel is very overrated, look around and find something better.

This hostel is well established and comfortable. They offer a map which is really fantastic and has good recommendations of walks, food, drink, bars etc in town. I really like how a number of common rooms are available depending on your mood. Definitely a good choice for Salzberg.

The Treehouse

Grunau im Almtal, Austria

I really loved it here, its simply the most homely hostel I have ever stayed in. Relaxing and charming. Your always invited for breakfast, lunch or dinner for proper traditional homemade food. Gerard is really lovely, polite, considerate and remembers your name. Rooms are big, comfortable and good value. Only problem is the indoor smokers in common areas - perhaps they could step outside?!

Probably the best big hostel I have stayed in. Facilities are excellent - kitchen, dining area, laundry, computer lounges and all the services you need at really fair prices. Wombats also has a really great bar with cheap drinks and a great atmosphere - probably one of the easiest places to meet people in the world. Only problem is the wifi is not working in rooms. Location is excellent and not far from tourist town centre.

We stayed in the private room/apartment for a little privacy and a break from busy dorm rooms. The room was fully self contained, clean and excellent value. The staff know Cesky Krumlov really well and have so many great suggestions to make the most of your time here.

Equity Point Prague

Prague, Czech Republic
83%

Equity Point Prague is a big, new, busy hostel. The location is awesome. Facilities are good, dorms are spacey and fresh with lockers. Main problem was the wifi is pretty terrible and not up to the demand of the crowds here. Reception staff were OK but just didn't seem interested in helping or giving suggestions. Room for improvements, but still definitely a good choice for Prague.

It's comfortable here and the staff are really great. Wifi works well but you have to pay for more than 2hours/1device a day. The kitchen is excellent - plenty of space and everything you need. The hostel is really clean and comfortable. Good choice for Dresden especially if you need something close to the train station.

It's just another big hostel where you get what you pay for. Dorm bathroom not cleaned in a few days (only bins emptied). Wifi not working in bedrooms. Shower average. Best thing about Citystay was the lounge and putdoor hangout which was really nice.

These small hostels are always the best. Make sure you read about the hostel location before booking - it's quite far (30- 45minutes transport) to city centre for sightseeing. We actually really loved the location in Kruezberg tons - so much amazing cheap food, bars and clubs within 5-10mins. You definitely experience the Berlin lifestyle and culture here.

MEININGER Amsterdam City West

Perfectly clean and beds made, actually there is a lot to like about this hostel except the location. Yes, it only takes about 15mins from your room to the central station but it just doesn't 'feel 'like Amsterdam. Also taxis home after 1pm cost me between 28-35 euro so consider this cost in your budget.

The hosts here love to party and its a lot of fun if that's what your in the mood for. Refurbished a couple of years ago the facilities are still great but I can see it starting to get 'tired' already. Cleanliness is ok but lazy. Great location, would stay again.

Hostel Miran

My favourite hostel in the world so far. This hostel is a family that takes ALOT of pride in the facilities and pleasing its guests. Miran runs some of the best day tours I have ever done - honest, cultural and perfectly executed. I really hope you choose to stay here when visiting Mostar, a perfect break from the big cities and the wild party hostels.

Really liked it here. Villa style accommodation - quite private. Not much of a common area but I visited off peak so I'm sure atmosphere would be great during summer. Host knew everything and really helpful, also taught me to drive a scooter. His girlfriend makes great cake but don't worry you will work it off climbing that hill!

Why dont you have lockers??? Bags/items behind the counter is not secure enough for big hostels. The hostel is nice and new, beds are quite comfortable and clean. Location is AMAZING! No kitchen which is a shame, but breakfast is good. Some staff members were good, others just not approachable or friendly :( I would recommend but definately some things to be improved by this new hostel.

The place you have to stay but you don't want to. Staff not friendly or approachable - just always to busy and under staffed. Worst breakfast ive ever had at a hostel - definately dont eat the ham, its not ham so gross. he main thing you need to know is its not cheap - expect to pay alot for all the services that are normally free. Bed linen has not been updated for a VERY long time. Room mate had bed bugs - but i must admit hostel dealt with this issue OK. need more space for complaints.

You have to visit Mama Marrakech with an open mind. It is certainly a real experience living like a Moroccan in a traditional Riad. In all honesty definitely some serious room for improvements of hostel cleanliness, but no complaints - I had a great time!
