Great hostel, great staff, great facilities. Definitely a party hostel though, so don't come here for a quiet night!

Lovely, friendly, family run hostel. Nice communal areas, good standard of facilities, comfy beds etc. not too far from the centre of town at all. A great alternative to the arrogant on-and-off reservation system that Tra La La seemingly like to operate.

Fantastic hostel in this must-visit place. Charlie will look after your every need, and make sure you have a great time. Micro-brewed beers and the pizza are fantastic. I've not a bad word to say about this place. Make sure you take one of Pipo's tours whilst you're there.

Great hostel if a little pricey. Terrace bar has great views and is very sociable. Floor boards in the rooms are VERY noisy though!!

A very nice, quiet hostel. Defintely not a party hostel! I booked a private single, and it was a lovely, spacious and charmingly furnished 3 bed room. Beds are comfy, and there is plenty of blankets you keep you warm at night. The area where breakfast is served is freezing however, and the lady who served breakfast is not the happiest of people! Good wifi in the common areas. Good location for the main tourist area, and close to the party hostels if you want to go drink. Showers are hot but weak

Very nice hostel. More like a budget hotel. Stayed in a private ensuite room. Clean with good facilities. The cafe bar food is great, but the service very slow. The coffee at breafast is like tar!! Very noisy at the front, but cannot be helped if located on sagarnaga. Even though the rooms have individual locks, they scare you into using the reception lockers, which is a bit of a pain. In general though, very nice and comfortable. Great super hot showers too!

Casa Verde B&B

Sucre, Bolivia

This is the nicest hostel I have ever stayed in. The rooms and common areas are beautiful, and nice hot showers too. Rene, the owner, is an absolute star - he will do anything for you, and give you great tourist information. The breakfast is smashing too. Cannot recommend this place enough. It's not the cheapest, but it's worth the extra money - every penny. Great location too - just 5 mins walk from the main square.

Probably the best hostel I have ever stayed in. The rooms are beautiful, the beds comfortable, nice hot showers, great breakfast, and amazing staff. Rene is a legend. It's more pricey than others, but worth every penny. Great location too - just a couple of minutes walk from the main square.

Nice hostel, fantastic staff, very convenient for the bus station. Arica off-season, however, is very quiet and desolate - which I think probably unfairly impacted the atmosphere at the hostel.

Tatais is a great hostel. The staff are really helpful and friendly. They put us in a private room at no extra cost and even let me stay on there after my friend had left, which was nice. There's a cute puppy too :) the only slight bad point is that the staff party EVERY night (including drums) - even if no guests are involved, which can be a bit much if you're up early for tours. Also no towel hire available.

Excellent standard of hostel in a great location - literally opposite the bus station. The dorms are cosy and clean, and the showers nice and hot. It was lacking in atmosphere a bit, but I think this was due to it bring off season. Would definitely recommend.

Hostel Suites Florida

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Great facilities and staff in this super-clean hostel. Great location for micro centre, but out of the way if you want to be near the bars and clubs of Palermo. The atmosphere was a bit lacking due to the sheer scale of it, and it being quiet when I was there. I had no other people in my dorm half the time! The other half, I was the only girl in a mixed dorm!! Overall, if you want to be central, I would recommend it. The 5 nights for 4 offer is great value too.

Hostel Lao

Mendoza, Argentina
100%

I booked this hostel due to the high number of excellent reviews, and I was not dissapointed! The staff are amazing, and the hostel itself is lovely, spacious, clean, and socialble - without being a party hostel. the activites recommended by the hostel were great - especially the evening horse riding! Only slight issues were no ladders for the bunks, and not enough power sockets in the rooms. This hostel gets booked up, so book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Really enjoyed my stay here. Basic facilities, but all fine. Great breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Common area is very conducive to cooking and chatting with fellow travellers - currently equipped with 'Jim's-dad-from-American-pie-a-like' who will keep you entertained! :) no lock on dorm door, and also that we booked a 4 bed dorm but were put in an 8 bed, were my only gripes.

Great hostel in a great location. Beds are super comfy for hostel beds. Staff are friendly. Breakdaat is good. There's a great roof terrace to hang out, and an awesome resdident kitty :) The crowd was mixed - not the friendliest vibe I have come across, but I met some nice people here and there. I understand that the hostel is at risk of closing, which would be a real shame, as you won't find a better hostel (or many/any at all!) in this fantastic vibrant area of the city. Give it a try!!

A Little Bird Guesthouse

Chiang Mai, Thailand
74%

Like a smaller version of Deejai, but I felt the location was much better for markets, bars and restaurants. Very similar atmosphere and good communal area to socialise in. Also very cheap. The downsides were that I felt the staff were quite grumpy and unhelpful, they were late to let us check in but not at all apologetic. The dorms were pretty standard, but they didn't bother to clean our bathroom or empty the bin once in the 3 days I was there, which was rough, and the sheets were not clean.

Nice hostel, lovely setting, good location. Only issue was a bad smell from the toilet block/sewers, which was not helped by a lack of aircon. I only had a standard room though so assume this would not be an issue for other room choices.

Does what it says on the tin. Good price, standard hostel facilities. Good atmosphere and easy to meet fellow travellers. The local map they provide is fab too - I am still using it now I have moved on! Only small gripes were having to ask for toilet paper and towels - unclear as to whether these are chargeable or not as I sorted myself out, and that there are not enough security lockers to go around.

San Sook Place

Ayutthaya, Thailand

San Sook is an experience. The lady who runs it is one of the nicest, most accommodating people I have ever met. She welcomes you by name on arrival and gives you a drink and a snack, before showing you what's what on a local map. She will book anything from a boat ride to a massage for you and doesn't ask for a penny until you leave. She even let me keep my room for a nap and shower after I'd checked out. rooms are nice, clean and comfortable - highly recommend.

Udee Bangkok

Udee is a lovely clean hostel. It has a great roof terrace with views of the city, and cheap DIY laundry facilities. The breakfast is nice. Close to the weekend market and train links in and out of the city, the location is good - especially if you're looking for something away from the carnage of Kao San rd. communal area is pretty quiet and not so good for meeting other travellers, but otherwise no complaints.

Nomads Coral Grand Koh Tao

Very nice hostel. Good vibe, dorms set up well to meet fellow travellers. Beach bar/restaurant serving a good range of food and drink, and a beautiful location to have a beer and watch the sun set. Wifi coverage, despite advertised as free and available, was poor. This hostel is also almost double the price of others on the island - I only went with it because I couldn't get a room elsewhere for 1 of the nights of my 2 night stay. If you're no scrimping though, go for it
