La Pinta

This hostel is in one of the Bogota's safer areas, something which was important to us when visiting the city. The area is rather up and coming and has some fantastic restaurants. The hostel had hot water and warm duvets - essential as the city can get cold at night. There was a good kitchen and bar with reasonable beers. Lockers could also take my entire backpack. Would stay again.

A fantastic hostel based on the main square with comfy beds, beers in the fridge and a pool out the back. Brilliant. The beds are comfy and there are lockers for possessions. We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend. Only negative was the bathrooms could have been kept a little cleaner but wouldn't hesitate to go back. Also the steaks at the pub are goooood and so cheap.

As one of the only hostels in the city, we found it to be perfectly functional and fine. We stayed in a six bed dorm on the 1st floor that was rather cramped and had no window and so was rather smelly. There were lockers outside the room in reception, which is ok but not ideal. The bathroom was ok. The bar did not appear to be open when we were there, but as a stop gap it was fine.

Hi , We appreciate your comments and always offer a range of rooms options where available. We only open the bar on Fridays and Saturdays but there are plenty of other midweek options around the hostel. Thanks for taking the time to let us know about your stay. Saludos Team Kasa Guane

Divanga Bed & Breakfast

Excellent hostel - would highly recommend. In a town that can feel a little unsafe at times, Divanga felt like a haven. It is not positioned on the front but this means when the bar closes it is genuinely quiet for a good sleep. Jennifer and DJ Raf are on brilliant and on hand to mix amazing cocktails or serve up good meals by the pool. For an inexpensive indulgence stay here.

Calamari Hostel Boutique

A lovely boutique hostel in the heart of the old town away from Gringo alley. We stayed in the dorm and the beds were comfy and the roof terrace a really nice addition. The city is hot, hot, hot but the room did have 4 fans to try and keep the temperature down. There were a few issues with staff cross-communication about buses etc but nothing to worry about as everyone was very friendly. Really good hostel.

The guy who runs this hostel is really, really nice and eager to help you have a fun and safe time in Cali. It is like staying in someone's home. The dorm we had was really comfortable but there are no lockers, which was fine but I do prefer them. There is a good kitchen, great Wifi and outside area. There is a room on the ground floor that doesn't have a door which would not make me feel very comfortable but could be ok for some. Would recommend.

A great hostel. We stayed in a private room with comfy beds. The Wifi only really works up on the terrace but thats ok as the views are great. There is a menu of the day for supper which we had only once but was fantastic for the price. There is a security guard and approved taxis as well as an on site laundry service - brilliant for a safe and pleasant stay.

More hotel than hostel, we really liked staying here and even though we went for cheapest twin the room had comfy beds and aircon - brilliant. The staff were ace only two minor gripes - we weren't warned the hostel was being fumigated (a good thing) so couldn't enter for a couple of hours and they charged $1 a day to store a bag when we went to the Galapagos, as we had booked another night on our return this is a bit tight!

If you are on a traveller budget and would like a break from dorms, this central hostel offers all the benfits of a hotel at hostel prices. There is nothing better than an afternoon lounging round the heated pool. The breakfasts are also good. Would recommend.

Hostal Atacama Tatai's

This hostel is located outside of the Centre, but the walk is not long. Having recently undergone an update we would have expected more. The bathrooms are not particularly pleasant and the loo roll is not replenished often enough. All the rooms are off a central courtyard which is nice during the day, but with no curfew, the owners and friends had group singing sessions until 1-2am, which in a town where dawn tours set off at 3-4am, can make for a tiring experience.

This hostel has great character and friendly atmosphere. We booked a six-bed dorm but it was actually a seven-bed dorm with one of our beds being more like a mattress on the floor... The staff were friendly and hosted a great barbecue but were not forthcomimg at ensuring everyone knew what was going on and letting people know the drinks and food were ready. We did get badly bitten by mosquitos at night, so be prepared to spray.

Best value hostel we have stayed in. It may not have the most character and be the most beautiful but the price for a bed and cooked egg breakfast with fresh pastries and free glass of wine in the evening can not be ignored. Would go again.

Loved, loved, loved this hostel. It was ace. The staff are friendly, the rooms comfortable with big lockers, and they have a great evening where everyone cooks their normal dinner and then shares it everyone else. A great way to meet people.

We really liked this hostel, the staff are really nice and helpful. We would certainly recommend it. Only downsides are the walk from town, but there is a big supermarket that is really close by and the lack or room during breakfast, we had to sit in the kitchen, but these are small problems really.

La Posta Hostel and Apart

Ushuaia, Argentina

This is a nice hostel, but it is a good long walk from town. The rooms are pleasant with good lockers and breakfast is delicious media lunas. The only problem is there is no lounge area, so everyone has to sit round big wooden tables under bright lights that is not conducive to meeting people so the atmosphere is pretty low.

We cannot recommend this B&B enough. It was my partners birthday and the lovely owner went out of her way to make sure we had the best of stays, buying a cake and bottle of champagne for us to enjoy on arrival. The room was lovely and the breakfast delicious. Fantastic.

This is a little gem of a hostel, nestled 4 blocks from the sea. The owner is fantastic and was incredibly helpful. By the first morning all the staff had memorised our names and greeted us with a handshake every morning when they served us breakfast. The rooms were really comfy, safe and clean. The information about tours was really helpful. The well stocked kitchen made cooking a pleasure as the supermarket is one block away.

El Viajero - Hostel & Suites

Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay

The staff at this hostel were dreadful. Probably the rudest i've ever met on our trip so far. Every question was greeted with a grunt and a mumbled answer, a question about getting the washing done seemed to invoke a reaction as if i'd insulted their family. Like a lot of chain hostels the communal area was lovely to relax in, clearly the budget has gone there rather than hiring people who like other humans. Avoid.

The staff were charming at this new hostel, it's handily located for the bus station but is a walk into the Ciudad Vieja. However buses run 24hrs from a stop about 100 metres away so it's no problem. the beds were really comfy and for 2 6'4" men you can actually lie out flat, a novelty travelling.

Chill House

Buenos Aires, Argentina

of the 4 hostels we stayed in, in Buenos Aires this was by far the best. The way the old townhouse has been adapted to the hostel is great, it has a lot of character whilst managing to have a good range of rooms and bathrooms. The roof terrace is huge and has a BBQ that anyone can use. The staff are very cool and helpful, it's not the lap of luxury like some HI places but unlike them this a hostel with a soul. The people were diverse and interesting and i wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Eco Pampa Hostel

Buenos Aires, Argentina

This is a really well decorated hostel in Palermo, the facilities were good and the staff nice. My only complaint seems small but caused us to leave, my partner and i are 6'4" and the beds were tiny, with metal parts that clanked everytime you moved. The mattresses were pure foam so we boiled. This is quite a specific thing for us as we're tall so if you're 6ft and under you'll have a lovely time. The other people seemed nice.

Hostel Suites Obelisco

Set in a lovely building right slap bang in the centro, this is a big HI hostel. The facilities are actually quite good but after 3 days we were desperate to get out. The atmosphere was non existent, the communal area is a line of benches where people sit on the computers, headphones in, and some rock hard sofas. The staff were pretty unbothered by the guests, not rude just kind of disinterested. We ran out the door as quickly as possible, avoid unless you're part of a big group.

Marcopolo Inn Iguazu

Puerto Iguazu, Argentina

Part of a large chain of HI hostels, this place has lovely communal areas, we had a 6 hour wait for a bus but enjoyed sitting in the courtyard on the table and chairs in the sun. However the rooms are DARK and the bathroom was a bit grim. I saw a cockroach the size of a small dog in their one night. It's opposite the bus station so brilliant for the park and arriving and leaving. Time for a makeover i think.

The staff are charming at this well-positioned hostel. They made us feel very welcome and the Caipirnhas are amazing and great value. The rooms were clean and we were able to store our bags and have a shower on arrival so we could make the most of the falls.
