Between rounds of baby guinness, a live band, and naked green Canadians dancing on the bar, St Patty's Day at the Wild Rover was the best party I had in South America. The bar manager Ben does an amazing job of getting people going at night and making sure everybody has a sick time. He takes the place from pretty decent to the best weekend you'll have in Peru. The dorms and bathrooms are clean and tidy, the staff are all really helpful, and the food is GREAT! (get the tasty chicken breast).

Iguana Backpackers

Montanita, Ecuador

Great place to stay in Montanita. The owners are really friendly. They have a great atmosphere at Iguana, there always seemed to be people hanging out and playing cards ready to surf or go to the bars. The only problem is that the place actually smells like sewage. Montanita's sewage system is extremely primitive and so I can't really dock the hostel for it.

If you want to splurge this is the place to do it. Amazing owners. Amazing breakfast. Great clean rooms with hit showers. It's not a youth crowd and it's set out of town were the only cons. There is a lot to do in Banos and Casa Verde gets you ready for it. You wake up to an amazing breakfast and the owners are more than ready to not only recommend a trail, but they'll take you there. When you get back at night you can get a hearty meal for about $7. I would definitely go back.

Vibes Hostel

Quito, Ecuador

Great spot atmosphere and crowd. The common area is one of the best I've seen. The only problem is that they charge $2.5 for beer and you can't bring in your own.
