Urban House

San Sebastian, Spain

I wish the common areas were open later/earlier, lockers in the rooms would be nice, carpet in rooms needed a deep clean and surfaces needed to be dusted. It would be nice to have hooks in the rooms and toilets to hang stuff up. Staff was nice. Lots of nightlife a few blocks away.

Bilbao Akelarre Hostel

Bilbao, Spain

Staff was super helpful and nice. It's about a 40 min walk to the old city center and was about a 20 minute walk from the bus station. Facilities were clean and the kitchen was fully stocked. Very chill atmosphere, not a party hostel. I would stay there again.

Black Swan

Barcelona, Spain

Very modern and clean but not a very social hostel. Common areas close early and alcohol is not allowed. Staff is very friendly and eager to help. Easily walkable to the city center. I would definitely go back.

Staff was nice but sometimes very inefficient (blonde female). Included breakfast was great as was kitchen staff. Metro lines were about 5 min walk and the Sacré Coeur was a 15 minute walk (up some serious stairs). No real nightlife nearby but lots of nice cafes and restaurants. Paris is expensive, this place is a good deal.

Istanbul Hostel

Istanbul, Turkey

Staff was helpful and had a good sense of humor. There's no real security or lockers in the rooms but someone is always at the front desk and they have a safe there if needed. 5 mins walk gets you to Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. Beds are huge and comfortable. Included breakfast was nice. Very laid back atmosphere. Just go with it. Bars and nightlife for tourists is a block away.

Staff was lovely, easy walk to the metro, beds were comfy, bartenders friendly and they offer a good happy hour. The only thing to be improved would be to leave space in the kitchen for guests to cook if they want.

Hi 5 Hostel

Budapest, Hungary

These people know how to party. Every night there's a scheduled outing (all involve drinking) so there is never a dull moment. Staff is friendly and helpful and you will learn a lot about them...especially if you play their drinking games. This is a very social hostel. You will make friends. There is a dog. The common areas and toilets are not the cleanest, but the bedrooms are fine. Think of all those movies about American college frat houses...Walk everywhere, there's so much to see.
