Envoy Hostel Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh, Cambodia
94%

This hostel is brand new with comfortable beds, fantastic kitchen and close enough to walk to everything. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk to the Royal Palace, don't waste money on a Tuk Tuk and get some exercise and walk to the Happy Hours along the river towards the night market. Phnom Penh is a very enjoyable city based from this hostel. We will be returning for our flight out.

Stones Bar Dorm Rooms and Restaurant

Koh Phi Phi, Thailand

The beds were waaaayyy too close together, the safety box is a great amenity but so would some shelves or lockers so everybody isn't stepping on each others bags. Loud until 2:30am which is fine because you're drunk but you need to be that way since it feels like the beds are made of granite. Met some awesome people and recommend the viewpoint, other than that Phi Phi is filled with dirty and gross accommodation so don't expect much for the money you spend.

The 80's Guesthouse

Penang, Malaysia

Awesome showers and comfy beds but it's a very loud hostel and the staff don't help by yelling all day for each other instead of being normal humans and looking for one another, i mean where could they be? Other than that you could probably skip Penang altogether as there is nothing to do.

The place wasn't in the best shape, our room was gross and asked to switch after one night. We got another room that was an improvement as it didn't stink and felt comfortable using the blankets. Loud in the morning with the mosque but I believe that is a Malaysia thing. Don't eat at the restaurant as we got sick from there.

Singapore is too expensive to backpack around and what you get for your money just isn't worth the trip. Some people were stealing others shoes to go to the bathroom which I thought was weird when I put my sandals back on wet.

Up To You Hostel

Gili Trawangan, Indonesia

Staff were really unorganized and the facilities were dirty as well as the AC needing to be fixed in our room, so repair men in there while we were out. Not a great location on Gili T, much better properties if you just show up and shop around.

The Yellow

Overrated as far as the hostel has seemed to be pumped up. Fan room, the fan didn't rotate, we had bad roommates at the time as well. For how much you pay it is not up to standard and lacking in security as you could get into our room through the shared bathroom. Good lockers and close to the train station though and pretty good party in the basement but you can also party there no matter where you stay.

The hostel was really well equipped with a great kitchen, common area and court yard. Lots of showers and great roommates. Our room was on the street side so it was really noisy at night, all night so maybe ask for a room towards the courtyard. The train situation to Pompeii wasn't the greatest and Naples as a city we didn't really enjoy as it was dirty. Some staff were helpful but some didn't have any idea.

Orange Rooms Valencia

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Except for the mattress on one of the beds being really uncomfortable it was an amazing place to stay. We had the level to ourselves, our own kitchen, laundry and bathroom facilities. Located right in the old town and not too far on the metro to the beach.

The Hostel Box Port

Barcelona, Spain

Hostel is located fairly well but this was our second hostel in Barcelona and we liked the previous one better. The atmosphere for us wasn't quite what we wanted as the crowd wasn't very young or social besides a couple of others. If you want a quite place to stay with a great location at a decent price and good facilities, we would recommend.

Living Mad Hostel

Madrid, Spain
86%

Definitely recommend! Hostel was located perfectly, down a quite alley way but right in the heart of Madrid. Staff were really friendly and helpful, the pub crawl and free walking tour are definitely recommended. Rooms were a bit small for the amount of beds and the locker coordination in ours made everyone get in the others way.

Hotel Andia

Pamplona, Spain
37%

We got a smoking room without notice, there is no ice machine and you have to pay for ice, the one good thing was the gym and it wasn't even that great. Too far away from the centre of Pamplona. If it wasn't for the San Fermin Festival it would have been a terrible experience overall.

Equity Point Gothic

We stayed in a 14 bed mixed room and the apartment style was different but really nice to be able to draw the curtain for privacy. Breakfast was really good for complimentary, kitchen facilities were okay. The midnight curfew worked well but could get a bit noisy if you were trying to sleep earlier. Bike rental right across from hostel and a metro a 30 second walk. The one negative is the ladder up to the bed felt like you were walking on nails.

Amsterdam Hostel Orfeo

Great location to see Amsterdam, beds were not the best, the atmosphere was nil and we had bad roommates. The one bathroom in our ten bed shared had no shower pressure and you could smell whatever the last person did in there.
