Too much psy trance! Played psytrance during the day and chill music at night, a little backwards in my opinion. Not the cleanest place, had glass stuck to my foot twice, need new chairs by the pool, rooms were alright I guess. Not my favourite hostel but not terrible either, at least it had a pool and did tour bookings.

Fun place and decent rooms with good showers although ours was a little spotty on the hot & cold. Really nice staff, & tasty food, get the carrot soup! Would definitely stay again, they stored our luggage while we went on 4 day Machu Picchu jungle trek which was great! Watch for the tour booking place in there tho, told us our bus left Machu Picchu at 6:45pm and it turned out to be 9pm, and got sent to the wrong bus terminal for our bus to Ica! Overall great times at Milhouse :)

Decent enough place, nothing special. Nice showers and comfy bed although there were quite a few tiny flying insects that kept appearing out of no where in our bedroom. They had a computer for use which was nice and fast Internet. The breakfast was a roll with jam, juice and coffee. Good enough place to stay for a night.

Nice place, really enjoyed our stay here. Close to a nice park and some in town ruins as well as the Old Town area. Had a kitchen you can use and a big DVD collection. Would stay again :)

Really clean and beautiful place, awesome showers, would love for this to be my home! Nice tv room with DVDs for those rainy Banos days. Slight walk from the city centre but has a nice view and is close to a hiking trail that leads up to a statue and an AMAZING view of the city, definitely do this short hike. The supervised breakfast was bread, bologna and couple pieces of cheese... I bought cereal instead. Good coffee and juice though. FYI, they don't speak much English.

Love this place, felt really comfortable here. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the food is pretty good and decent price. Great location near Old Town which is a lot more unique and wayyyy cheaper than La Mariscal district. The roof top bar/restaurant/reception area has an amazing view and good wifi, it's where we spent all of our time while at the hostel. Oh a few cons: no kitchen use, cant bring your own booze here & the rooms are FREEZING COLD! Brr bundle up or get a cuddle buddy

Los Mostros Hostel

Great location, felt safe waking around at night, close to shopping & restaurants. Hostel itself was a pretty cool place, a huge house turned hostel, not super clean but good enough, free breakfast was pretty tasty even though its only toast and cereal, but hey who doesn't like at least one of the two!? And can't beat free ;) The pool was a little dirty but people were still swimming in it. Most of the guys that work there could have been more friendly. Good kitchen, fun ping pong & pool table!

Jon´s Place

LOVED Jon's place! Really felt like home, the kitchen is great, has mostly everything you'll need (no cheese grater) haha, amazing shower, comfy bed, lil tv with English channels too :), Loved the dock for early morning meditation & yoga and evening sunsets (when it wasn't overcast). Only downside is no AC, but it does have fans, and its a pretty long walk to Bocas town, but you do get to rent bikes for $4/day when you stay here, highly recommend the bikes! Jon himself is such a sweet guy.

Amazing colourful artwork everywhere! Loved it :) lots of great places to just sit and chill, hammocks & benches, although there wasn't much interaction between other hostel peeps. We really liked our room, HUGE bunk beds, like 6ft high double beds. We got a room without a private bathroom and I'm glad we did, the ones with bathrooms sounded like they had bug problems. Rent a bike while you're there! Hostel is slightly out of town might be scary walking by yourself at night. No kitchen to use

Decent enough place to stay for a night when in transit or flying out. They don't book shuttle services like a lot of the rest of Costa Rica, but they do have a free shuttle to the airport. The tv room was pretty dirty, roof top bar is small but a decent hang out spot, pizza isn't as good as they say. Good location, just down the street, about 10-15 minute walk is a nice mall with a movie theatre if you have some time to kill, was a great find for us after being stuck in Alajueal an extra day.

Jose was great! Nice guy, he booked everything for us and even switched the time for our zip line after it was already booked. Amazing breakfast, nice kitchen to cook in & a fun yet laid back group was there when we went through. Would definitely stay again!

Such a kick ass place! Really felt like we were at a resort. Stay in the canvas tents, they are really nice and its like having your own private room. The facilities are very clean, nice showers, lots of hammocks and the pool was amazing! Only downside of this place is no kitchen to cook your own food and no fridge to store anything but they have a tasty restaurant and a happy hour ;)
