We stayed in a 10-bed dorm and there was an en-suite washrrom which was awesome. The hostel has a huge outdoor hangout area (including a bar, which creates a really social atmosphere at nighttime), a large and equipped kitchen, and tons of showers and washrooms. Hostel is less than a 5 min walk to the beach and just a bit over 5 min to the main part of downtown Hvar. Girls working provided lots fo local recos and organized a pub crawl in the evening. Fun time!

Chillout Hostel Zagreb

Zagreb, Croatia

This hostel was closer to a hotel and it was AWESOME. Rooms were really modern and clean, as were the washrooms. Location in Zagreb is unbeatable (right at the bottom of the funicular, 3 minutes from the main square). There's a cafe in-house that serves cheap food, coffee and beer. Great security (lockers in every room and every room had keys). efinitely not a party hostel, but if you're looking for a break from party hostels and dorms, we HIGHLY recommend this hostel.

Sax Hostel

Ljubljana, Slovenia

Just an OK hostel. No kitchen, no social common area to hang out (there is a bar attached to the hostel but it was totally empty that night), and a bit removed from the city centre. The rooms were clean and simple. Ljubljana is a fun city and it would've been nice to have a hostel with a more fun atmosphere.

Circus Hostel

Berlin, Germany
100%

The location (in Mitte) was fantastic - super close to great bars, restaurants, shopping and all of the major tourist attractions. The all-you-can-eat-breakfast downstairs for 4.50 was a steal (eggs, salad, cheese, breads, cereals, yogurt etc) . Bar downstairs had amazing nightly specials (free keg on Mondays!). The staff were full of great suggestions for things to do in Berlin. Rooms were super clean. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Berlin!

The Cat's Pajamas Hostel

Berlin, Germany

The hostel itself was clean, the free breakfast was nice (cereal, bread, cheese and meat) and the kitchen area was huge to prepare your own meals, but the location was very far from main attractions and not that lively. This hostel had many older people staying in it so it felt more like a hotel than a youth hostel (NOT a party hostel at all). You have to be out of the common area by 11PM so not conducive to late-night socializing. Good if you're looking for a quiet night/break from partying.

Hostel One Home

Prague, Czech Republic
100%

The BEST hostel we have ever stayed at - if you are in Prague, make sure you stay here!! The location is phenomenal (close to all main attractions + restaurants/bars), they serve a FREE delicious dinner every night, cheap breakfast in the morning, and the best of all is the staff - so friendly and outgoing and they organize events every single night of the week (and some afternoons too!). The most social, lively and fun hostel we've ever experienced. Couldn't possibly rate it any higher! :)

The MadHouse Prague

We loved our stay here - such an incredible party hostel, which is what you want in a city like Prague with amazing nightlife. We were greeted with a free beer upon arrival and the party continued non-stop after that. Really cool and clean rooms, run by fantastic staff (Canadians!), $2 dinner most nights and free breakfast in the morning. Staff organized amazing events every night of the week (going to bars, pub crawls, drinking games, etc.). Perfect hostel for Prague partying!!

Arenal Backpackers Resort

La Fortuna, Costa Rica
97%

Couldn't possibly recommend this hostel any more - it felt like a resort paradise. Pool with swim-up bar area, good little bar/restaurant on site, close to downtown La Fortuna. They run TONS of tours out of their front desk at discounted prices (highly recommend canyoneering - that was our favourite day in CR!). No breakfast, but lots of options close by. Towels for $1. We stayed in a room (awesome), there were tents but could see how those would be really loud at night time.

Hostel Pangea

San Jose, Costa Rica

This place is SUPER secure (guard monitoring front door at all times), which allows you to feel comfortable in the somewhat-grimy city of San Jose. Cool restaurant and bar on site, swimming pool is small but a nice bonus. Close to major public bus stops to take you to other areas of CR. A bus from the airport to this hostel costs less than $2 and it is walking distance from the bus stop. This is probably the nicest hostel in San Jose.
