Chillout Lya Hostel Bar

This hostel is in a fantastic location. We read comments about a noisy club over the road, and we didn't notice this at all when we there (July 2013). We had a bit of a language barrier with staff - but at the end of the day we're in Turkey. The bar downstairs is great, with helpful tips on dinner, drinking etc, Breakfast is the traditional Turkish style, which is very nicely prepared each morning. Very easy to get to this hostel from the Bus Depot - take the 830 bus to Taksim for 3TL each.

Great hostel, great facilities, great breakfast - just didn't feel the value for money. I know it's smack bang in the middle of red light district and close to the central train station, but the amount we paid for the private double bed was ridiculous. Especially when it's just two single beds pushed together that slide apart or the timber slats propped up by concrete blocks, Recommend for dorm only stay. Really great facilities.

City Backpackers Hostel

This hostel ticks all the boxes. Everything is perfect - just be expected to pay Swedish prices. Dorm beds are pretty expensive - you just have to suck it up, you're in Sweden. Beware: Dorms beds are super comfortable. You might sleep in. Awesome kitchen for cooking your own meals, and the iMac computers everywhere is helpful.

This hostel is in a fantastic location!! Everything is minutes from the Hostel, including fantastic cathedrals, canals, bars, parks, places to eat, public transport and more. The girls working in the hostel (night & day 24/7) will do anything to make your trip more enjoyable - starting with an overview of he city with a tourist map. Don't forget to ask the girls about seeing a Russian Ballet. They will hook you up with tickets at very, very, very affordable rate compared to retail prices.

Great hostel, good location, nice pool, good bar, hire bikes right out the front, A bit too far to walk to the old town - so make sure you hire a bike.
