Han Tang Inn Hostel, Xi'an, China
9.7
30th May 2013

Lovely hostel in the heart of Xi'an. The staff were great esp. Lei Lei. Nice rooms with en suite bathroom. Good atmosphere and easy to meet people at the bar. 8RMB for a beer - fantastic! They hostel are also great at organising tours for you. Had been travelling for 3 months, this was my last stop and honestly one of the best hostels I've been to

Lovely hostel. Really has a unique character to it being in a courtyard tucked away down one of the side streets (hutong). Staff very friendly and helpful with tours, info etc. Wifi average connection and only one PC there but you can access Facebook unlike the rest of China. Main downsides are its a bit of a walk to the nearest metro station, it's pricey for what you get compared to SE Asia and no breakfast included.

Pricey for SE Asia but so is the rest of Hong Kong. Great security with electronic doors and lockers. Staff helpful with trips/directions. Location (causeway bay) is fantastic for shops and restaurants. Also close to MRT station to get around. Good all round hostel

Niras Bankoc Cultural Hostel, Bangkok, Thailand

17th May 2013

Lovely staff. Great location if you want to be close to the main sights but in a less touristy area like Kao San road. Wifi works fine. Lovely street food/ restaurants nearby. The place has a real charm to it and is well maintained. Great DVD collection in the common room. Only downside is its not as social as other hostels but can be good if u want to just chill out at night.

Thank you very much for your kind review and seeing our values as cultural hostel.Regarding social atmosphere, we always encourage guests to socialize each other with two main social areas like vintage cafe and common room. However, we are sorry that we have no bar in our hostel and guests may go out and enjoy night life scene like Khaosan by walking in 15 min.Hope to welcome you next time !

The Siem Reap Hostel, Siem Reap, Cambodia

Nice staff, close to town, cheap, good bar, good common room with selection of DVDs, great place to meet people. Food half decent. They can also arrange Angkor trips and transport. The highlight has to be the lovely pool which is heaven after a day melting at the temples. Ticks all the boxes really!

Good price, short tuk tuk ride to the centre of town with all the sites. Nice bar and good food. Great place to meet others. Nice large dorm beds. No free towels or brekkie though. Staff are nice if a bit cheeky. Will help organise trips (e.g killing fields/ S21) and transport for you. Internet a bit patchy at times

Lovely staff who will help organise all your trips, nice food for brekkie, good location for bars and food. Short taxi ride to some of the sites. Wifi works fine. Main downsides- no real common room/ chilling area and no lift - one of the dorms is on the 5th floor up 10 flights of stairs. Not fun with a full backpack!

Lovely staff, cheap rooms but good quality. Lovely buffet breakfast. About 10 mins walk from town. The pool is a bit chilly but this can be perfect when it's scorching outside!

Lovely staff (possibly so friendly it can come across as not genuine) who will ply you with cold towels as drinks when you come back from a hot day out and about. They were a bit too insistent on us taking a private car on to Hoi An (65 USD) instead of the public bus (5 USD) saying it might not have air con, but it did and it was fine. Otherwise very good people. Good location with lots of food nearby. Citadel about 20 mins walk away. Breakfast tasty and free. Tours a bit pricey

Fantastic hostel with big comfortable private rooms, lovely free breakfast and bottomless drinks all day! The Internet worked fine. The staff (in particular Lu) were so helpful with tours/transport tickets/ local info and incredibly warm friendly. The location was perfect- right next to the lake, close to the old quarter, next to a supermarket and lots of good cafes restaurants. Would definitely go again!

Very helpful staff, loads of tasty cheap food close by (hawker food is the way forward). The MRT station is about 5-10 mins away which can be a bit of a chore in the blistering Singapore midday heat. Lovely, relaxing TV room with a great selection of movies/programmes

Incredibly helpful European couple who run this hostel! They will bend over backwards to make sure you know where to go, whats on etc. Free wifi and the free shuttle bus to/from the bus station were the icing on the cake. Honestly the mostly helpful hostel staff I have come across in 10 years. Also, apparently the hostel owners haven't had a day off in 2 years and yet are still energetic and friendly - give them a medal! Hostel itself is clean and close to center of town.

lovely deluxe double rooms felt like hotel standard with great views of the lake from the balcony. Only downside - you had to share the balcony with the room next to you.
