Upon arrival we were charged the full amount for our stay and the deposit i payed through hostelworld. Making me wear a wrist belt made me and my girlfriend feel somewhat uncomfortable. It feels like you are staying in a prison in stead of being a guest in some place. Maybe younger people like identifying themselves with che lagarto by wearing such a belt but we did not. It also does not really work. After we took off our wrist belts nobody asked us anything. So much for a security measure.
Very comfortable hostel perfect for those looking for a quiet place to stay. The rooms are spacious, your bed is made each day and towels are provided. This gives it somewhat of a hotel feeling. Staff seem to be mainly foreigners. Breakfast is expensive but the supermarket is right around the corner which makes for a nice breakfast outside on the neighbouring museumplein. Recommendable.
Very good hostel close to the lapa nightlife. Only downside to the hostel is the steep climb up the hill to reach it and the exuberance of stairways inside the grounds of the hostel. But the view certainly makes up for it. Staff is very helpfull and the bunkbeds are what bunkbeds should be like.Excellent option if you want to be close to the nightlife and don't mind training your legs.
Very nice hostel with a good restaurant where you can order food by weight. When we arrived at the hostel it had been overbooked causing us to be replaced to another facility of the same owner. The hostel seems to be better than some of the franchise hostels which are also on the island. Facilities are very good and service is up there as well.
Good hostel more or less close to the rodoviario bus station. That's also why i chose it allthough the neighbourhood seems a little bit creepy at night. The facilities are good but the matrasses and bed sheets could and should be a lot better. Then again it is one of the cheapest options in Rio so it's what you can expect.
