Matahari Lodge

Well located for all major areas in the city with the LRT on the opposite side of the road also for getting further afield easily. The set up was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The kitchen facilities were small for the size of hostel and the rooms would benefit from better air conditioning. An otherwise comfortable stay within a comfortable environment.

Perfectly located for doing KL on foot, the hostel is on a quiet road and sufficiently tucked away to make the city noises distant. The room was a good size and the wi-fi was exceptionally good. It was a bit gritty but had a real backpackers feel to it and this made the stay even more enjoyable. The Air Conditioning in the room was also excellent.

A good clean place to get your head down for the night. The only drawbacks are the wafer thin walls and small "kitchen facilities". The rooms were a comfortable size, the beds big and comfortable and the staff very friendly. Only a 10 minute walk to the historic centre of Melaka.

Good size dormitories, excellent location for the main town and the staff were excellent from beginning to end; amongst some of the most helpful teams we have come cross. The beds were comfortable, decent kitchen facilities were available and the pool area was pleasant. A good bonus is that the laundry facilities are free from 2pm so all you need is washing detergent. A nice touch!

A comfortable place offering reasonably priced accommodation very close to central Brisbane; although it is interesting to visit an Irish Bar that doesn't sell Irish beers. This is the most comfortable hostel we have ever visited, the facilities mean that you wouldn't need to leave should you so wish. The cinema and rooftop swimming pool are both nice touches and the outside seating/standing area is spacious. The room was a good size, clean and with a comfortable bed.

A good hostel outside of town although an hourly shuttle is available (seems common in Cairns). The grounds are good and the staff friendly and very informative; they helped us with booking our trips. wifi was especially good. The only downside was the set up for room 7 and 7a; especially if you have inconsiderate neighbours opening the door nightly at 2-3-4-5am to get into one room which is inside the other room. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

A good size building, part of an old pub hotel means that it has bags of character; the communal areas are spacious although there was a lack of good functioning washing machines and effective dryers. The kitchen is small for the size of hostel but Woolworth's is opposite. Beware room at the very rear of the building on the top floor; there is a fire exit outside that room which rocks when people walk on it (sounds like thunder). This can be a problem if another guest takes a 3am smoke break...

A spacious and well laid out hostel in a good location for walking into Town and making the most of the Mount Eden area. The staff were friendly, inclusive and informative. We particularly liked the themed food nights and sharing of fruit grown on the grounds. There was a busy road outside but you wouldn't know it!
