The Explorers Guesthouse and Hostel

A great hostel, the only problem is there staff behind their front desk. Overall we found them quite unhelpful and uninterested. If you are just arriving into KL and want some good bearings on both KL and Malysia try and source it elsewhere. It's a shame because all their facilities are excellent.

Backpacker not flashpacker. Easy walking to pretty much where ever you need in town. The best part of the hostel are the owners. Very enthusiastic and helpful. They will not lead you astray and will make you PP and Cambodia stay easier. Stay in the AC Dorm if you can. Much cooler!!!

Very good Hostel. The place in the center city. An easy walk to all the main city attractions. Breakfast in the morning is good and filling. The staff are very helpful and friendly. They sell tours at good prices. We did both the Halong Bay 3 day and the 4 day Sapa . For those on time restraints I preferred the Sapa tour (w/ homestay) over Halong Bay. Also, if you do the 1 day Halong you might walk away a bit disappointed (the areas they bring you r overrun w/ tourists). 2nd day is much better.

Highly recommend this hostel. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. During our stay the owners had tour deals giving us discounts on our bed and free breakfast in the morning when you book tours through them. The tour prices are fare. This hostel is outside of the "Backpackers Scene" but Chaing Mai is small enough to walk from this Hostel to where you need to go. CAUTION: if you do stay here don't get fooled by the FAKE "TAT Office" across the road. Buy from the hostel or shop around

Z Hotel is in a good location. Not directly where the action (Ark and Mango) is haappening, only 15 to 20 minutes walk away. It is located a step away from the beach. There is a nice backpacker friendly food and goods market around the corner and a few good cheap restaurants. The Hotel is not the cleanest. We had dirty sheets and our bathroom was average. The ladies at the front desk are very helpful and friendly. I would still recommend this Hotel if you want a cheap stay on the main strip.

Excellent! Siam is a must location, shopping HEAVEN! The staff are very friendly and helpful. The place is spotless. The bathrooms are clean and showers warm. The beds are comfortable, there are lockers in each dorm for backpacks. Its a stones throw away fromt the train station so getting to the rest of the city and airport is a breeze. It has self service laundry, a bar, male and female bathrooms, a TV room.

Excellent!!! Great location, very helpful staff, GREAT breakfasts with excellent choices, very clean communal bathrooms, and very clean mixed dorms. The hostel close to a happening bar "cafe sec", which is handy on the stumble home. Would 100% recommend this place to the next traveller looking for a really comfortable nights accommodation.

Location is great. Common area is good and clean. Dorms beds are clean and comfortable. The only negative I found was the state of the bathroom in one of there mixed dorms was not too pleasant, it smelt and didn't look like it had been cleaned in a long while.
