This hostel is very basic and looks a little like dorms. There is a great area downstairs to watch movies, the included breakfast has good variety, and the facilities are good. The hostel is near the original Farmers Market and some nice cafes. If you can afford it you might want to stay in an area where more is happening like Los Feliz or Downtown but this hostel is good option for those on a tight budget.

I was very happy with my stay here although do keep in mind that there are a lot of long term residents and there are some problems associated with that such as crowded fridges etc. There is a 10pm curfew for the outside areas due to council regulations, this may be good for some people but not for others. The hostel would do well to improve their standard of cleanliness as my mattress was a little dirty. Overall this hostel is a beautiful location and is EXCELLENT value. I would stay again.

All was good except a couple of things. When I got there nobody was in reception and there seemed to be no staff around. I eventually found a lady cleaning the rooms who didn't speak English but she called the owner and I got into my room. Don't stay here on a weekend if you intend on sleeping because there was a large group partying outside of my door until the wee hours of the morning which was annoying as I had an early ferry! However if you want to party this would be great for you.

The villa is run by a lovely family. Steve was very welcoming and helpful. The internet worked really well. However during my stay the pool wasn't filled and there was no mention of it being seasonal. The villa is kind of far out of Fira but I stayed in Fira as well and I liked staying out of the town. I would recommend hiring a car/motorbike/4 wheeler which Steve can help with and its cheap. Breakfast was nice but wasn't worth 5 euro in my opinion.

Meininger was more like a hotel than a hostel to me which was great for the money. The breakfast was extra byt well worth it. This is not a party hostel, in fact there were lots of families staying there. The staff were great and helped me organise a Sound of Music tour. Was a little far from the city centre but there were frequent buses that only took 10 minutes max. My only complaint is that the lockers were too thin to store my 65l bacpack in, meaning that you also couldn't fit a suitcase in

Some staff were great, but one of the bar staff didn't include one of our items on the order and then tried to blame it on us somehow. Didn't have great English.
