The location of this hostel was very nice and there was ample security. It's right next to the Fountain of Neptune, 10 minute walk from the Gallery of the Academy (with David), the Train Station and Piazzale Michelangelo with plenty of shops, restaurants and markets in the nearby vicinity. Awful beds, no AC (provided with a fan however), sometimes the showers didn't work at all throughout the day, I saw the host of the Hostel one time (at checkout) and the bathrooms were disgusting and unkempt.

Not on the actual island, but for €2.60 you can get a round trip to the island that only takes 20 minutes. Kind of rude staff, disappointed that the shower was ground level, but very clean and in a good location.

Amsterdam Hostel Annemarie

The only knocks on this place are probably that the staff created an atmosphere of strictness. As expected, when zou sign in they give you a list of the rules, but the way it was done sounded like parents and the list was long. Otherwise it was really great. Facilities were clean, the location was right next to the 5 tram that takes you to and from Amsterdam Centraal which was great for traveling. Made it from the boonies to our train in 20 minutes. Would recommend.

It wasn't all that bad in all honesty. Pretty good location just down the street from pubs, laundry, the tube, plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. The staff was helpful, but it was dirty, bad bathrooms, mattresses that didn't fit the beds and the rates were simply too much for what we had. My expectations were low so they were met and remained low, but upon arriving at a new hostel on Amsterdam, I realized West Two wasn't quite doing it right.
