The Judy House, Negril, Jamaica

The hostel is located up a hill which most taxi drivers will charge you more to drive up there. A little bit of a pain but not a huge problem, the kitchen facilities are minimal and basic. The rooms are clean but small, they all have a safe in them to keep valuables which was handy. The staff super friendly, just make sure you ask the price for meals etc before you decide on anything as they will charge more for meals than some of the local restaurants close by! An amazing stay here regardless

Thanks for you review, but pretty disappointed with many of your comments. To clarify route taxis will charge a little extra for detour off their main route which is fair. Charter taxis are negotiated on distance as normal. Yes small, cheap, clean rooms is what we do and I think the kitchen has just about everything you could need. Love to hear what you were short of as all you had to do was ask us if you needed anything. Please note the Judy House does not serve food except on Christmas Day ??

Staff extremely helpful and always willing to help, however didn't always give the cheapest options for things and always recommended things that were based for tourists and not where most locals would go, hence always ended up paying more for things. The rooms are nice and clean, bathrooms cleaned regularly, a walk to the main area, safe and secure, breakfast basic. They organize activities at night which is great for meeting fellow travelers. Would recommend to others

It's located away from the central, but it's only 150J to the local bus area and into town. The hostel is absolutely amazing and beautiful overlooking the water, great kitchen facilities and very clean. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, they will help you get a taxi or transport to the next place. If your looking at taking a breather and being somewhere remote to just chill and relax then I would highly recommend this place. Loved our stay here

Bethel Court Guesthouse, Montego Bay, Jamaica

Location is close to the supermarkets but not close to the central part of Montego Bay, the area seemed safe in the day, but I wouldn't walk there alone at night. The kitchen facilities were very basic, there was only one knife for the entire hostel which made it difficult to cook. Mackenzie the driver is extremely helpful and friendly and willing to help with any information. I only met the owner Steve once and he just demanded money from me as soon as he met me. Overall a good experience.

They have a beautiful swimming pool with hammocks you can chill out on, the hostel is very clean, rooms are a goo size with late lockers. it seems very very safe in this little town. The breakfast is good, eggs, bread, fruit, coffee, fresh juice. The beds are comfortable and there's a fan in each room. Staff are helpful, large tv in communal area but we mainly stayed outside in the hammocks by the pool side. Kitchen is outside which makes it easy for cooking. Really enjoyed our stay here

Located in pelo area which is a little sketchy at night, people follow you to the hostel or ask if you need help to get there and then try to charge you for "helping" You. Didn't feel very safe in the area at all. Not the hostels fault. The breakfast was awesome, eggs, fruit, toasties, fresh juice, coffee. Staff amazing and helpful. Bathrooms in each room which can be a little annoying in a 10 bedded dorm. Rooms are good size with lockers and clean, free caipirinhas are an added bonus.

The owners were absolutely lovely and helpful. giving information about what to do and see in town and even helping me plan my trip onwards to salvador. the hostel is located near the central square, very secure, clean. The breakfast is ok, compared to other Brazilian breakfast it was quite small but still nice. There is only one small common area which is part of the kitchen/dining area but a balcony that over looks the town. Showers and toilets in each dorm are kept clean

It's quite far out of the main town area and hard to initially find. Beds were comfy and bathroom always clean. Internet slow, but it's to be expected in the middle of the desert. Staff very friendly and helpful. Book tours in town as you will save more money than booking through the hostel
