Great hostel, we wished we had stayed here our entire time in San Jose, not just on our way out. Loved the artwork and decoration. Nice pancake breakfast with fruit and coffee which is prepared for you. Definitely the place to stay in San Jose.

Great place to stay-had a relaxing feel. All of the facilities were very clean, and Celine and Sri were very friendly and accommodating. Surf board rental available at low cost. Beach towels and bath towels were available with a small refundable deposit.

What other reviews don't mention: Electricity only available from 5:30 PM till midnight. Only one powerstrip for charging, be prepared to wait a few hours. WIFI only available at those times & you can't connect if there are already 5 people on it. The "refrigerator" is a grungy ice chest. Food storage is not secure so critters will get into your food. Warm showers are rare. Must remove your shoes to enter any structure & floor is less than clean. Cushions on benches stink b/c dog sleeps on them.

Natural Pacific Suites

Nicest place we stayed while in Costa Rica! The two bedroom suite was perfect for our group of 4 & was an awesome value for the price (two separate bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths). Very clean, well decorated, and you have your very own kitchen to cook meals. Breakfast was great-3 options, & delivered at your requested time. The common area includes a pool table, tables, chairs, and a shower to wash the sand off from the beach. And air conditioning!! Highly recommend, provided you have a car or use a taxi

Casa Tranquilo Hostal

Definitely one of the better hostels we stayed at while in Costa Rica. David was very friendly and helped us to book a coffee tour (highly recommend doing), wash laundry, and pointed us towards other activities in the area. It is a make-your-own breakfast, they provide eggs, bread, and fresh fruit. The hostel has a unique construction, filled with windows and natural light-a very pleasant atmosphere. My one complaint would be that there were tons of bugs, especially flying ants in the bedrooms.

This hostel is OK. Breakfast is good and overall things were alright. The inside is a little dingy, the rooms were clean but the main kitchen was kind of dirty. We tried out two different showers without luck of hot water. It's one of the less expensive hostels which is a plus, however we stayed in another hostel close by on our way out of San Jose which was much nicer and well worth the extra $4/night.
